I think I'm going to look for some new reels as I'm using 10 foot scopes and I currently have fox fx9s on them but they don't seem to fit in the reel seat great. Also I have the scope two rod bag and the reels seem a bit of a tight fit. Can anyone recommend some reels for me to have a look at, preferably folding handles and front drag. Thanks

okuma inception inc 6000 perfect size for 9 and 10ft rods and ain't silly money either can get them under £60 a reel quality reels for the money or if it really has to be folding handles Daiwa GS4000 ltd reels or Penn black Rival longcast 6000 size both the Daiwa and Penn model have folding handles

Handles fold on SS2600's too and pretty decent reel if budgets permit

I'm close to ordering a pair of GS4000LTD for my 10ft cork dwarfs & if you went for them I'd be interested to hear some feedback.

These are my go to on my 9 foots. Had Okuma inc 6000, but these are so much nicer however you can buy 3 okuma for 1 daiwa.

My mate had a set of the whiskers and they looked great but they felt terrible compared to my castizms.

I've had a set of Whisker 25QD for a couple of seasons now and love them, cracking little reels with the back bone for hit and hold and cranking fish from snags/weed. Had the 4000's before them and whilst nice reels they just didn't feel as good under pressure for big fish in tight situations.

Shimano Ultegra CI4+ 5500 XTC beat the Daiwas by quite a margin for me.
The Daiwa had an awful line lay compared to the Shimanos and I would have to put drag washers in to get a half decent line lay on the spool with regular 0.35-0.38mm line.
I am a rather old school type and I like the old school Daiwa Types SS 2600 etc. but technically they are just miles away from the new reels currently available.
So the Shimanos mentioned and the Nash GT 4000 and 6000 are the best reels I have ever owned.
I juse these on 10 and 11ft rods and for me at least they are absolutely perfect.
The Shimanos are also available in a slightly cheaper non CI4+ version that are plenty good enough.

Comparing Ultegra CI4 with Whisker 25QD is not really a comparison though IMO; the spools sizes are completely different so a Daiwa Tourney S5000T is perhaps more appropriate?

The okuma inc 6000s are definitely worth a look, I use them for pretty much all my carp/barbel and pike fishing for a few years now and albeit an issue with the anti reverse, they have been great reels. In summary they are nice and cheap and do a good job.
I also have the old castizms QDs and to be honest although the castizm is a nicer reel. For me, the difference isn't worth the extra outlay or waiting on a decent set coming up second hand.
