The Gardner CVR ones are something similar, but probably cheaper than the Korda ones

Agreed, they are naff.

How they ever got signed off as being useable, is beyond me.

Had a pair of RH digitals, but went back pretty quickly to RH analogue dials.

They are a faff in use, try a pair and you'll see what I mean. The "hold" function (which can't be adjusted or turned off) is way too sensitive.

It used to go into hold mode, just trying to initially pick up the weight of the fish off the Matt.

Wouldn't recommend.

No experience of the exact rods you mention.

But I've a set of Century C2 MK2s in 10ft (3.5lb) and I've been more than happy with them. Paired with some 5500 size reels, they are a joy.

Nice one 👍

You can pretty much use them with anything. Just buy whatever gas regulator you need and a length of gas hose.

I've got ones made up for disposable cylinders, proper propane and butane bottles, but the biggest edge (and the one I now use 99% of the time) is a regulator for the steel refillable 1lb Coleman style bottles.

This allows me to refill them from a larger propane bottle at home, and propane doesn't suffer the poor cold weather performance that the disposable mix cylinders do.

You can also get aftermarket steel windshields for them, which can be worth having.

Enjoy!

I use mine all the time, in fact it's now my only stove!

I've cooked everything from a basic breakfast to full on roast dinners on it.

Zero complaints.

Just get a Cadac.

I can run mine on both gas canisters, or proper propane / butane which really helps in the cold weather.

Mines the low pressure version, which is definitely the more versatile model.

I've had the Shimano. The reel seat started to feel loose after a fairly short time, I swapped it for a Century.

I've a set of the C2s in 10' and 3.5t/c. They are paired with the ultegra ci4s in 5500 size.

Very very happy with them. Can do 100 yards with very little effort, but equally nice to fish under the rod tip. I've been using them predominantly on a weedy little 3 acre 'pond', with fish to 30lb.

The whole setup is extremely light.
