Looking at adding some oomph to my triporter. Kits are looking at about £600 from UKBC. Not sure i can justify the extra £400+ on a brand new barrow with a motor.

I dont get why solar think they need to charge for batteries. None of the other companies do, add alongside the fact you'll need to replace those back wheels unless you want it rolling away if your fishing anywhere that doesnt has a dead flat bank. Either that or you have to fashion something to prevent this happening which you shouldnt have to after paying a grand.
There's been a few reports on here about the frame itself not being strong enough in particular the handlebars. Then there's solars absolutely horrendous customer service on top of all of thst. i wouldn't be touching them with a barge pole at the moment. I will have to have a power barrow come March due to injury and I'm hoping carp porter have got their new one right in terms of design and stock/distribution etc

Come to think of it does any barrow with back wheels come fitted with some form of foot brake? Or have all of the brands ignored the fact that this would be an issue? This does for standard barrows not just power barrows. Even shopping trolleys have foot brakes

I think maybe the fox one does not 100% though, you shouldn't have to buy an extra item but the wheel kits from barrow buddies on Facebook are really good...the manufactures should take note to supply something as good as that as standard, especially when forking out £1k!
Also, none of the £1k plus barrows come with anything other than lead acid batteries, need to get with the times it's 2025.

Fairly certain one of the Carp Porter ones used to, was it the tri porter maybe? It had a bar that went across the tyre.... going back though.

I carry a wheel chock with mine, mainly to stop any chance of it rolling back in the car, it's always tied down with four straps, but belt and braces. It's also usefull on sloping banks. I already had a couple from my caravan, but they only cost a few quid.

Without being a smart arse (and also an early Barrow Buddies rear wheel kit user) I did mention the lack of swivelling rear wheel brake on previous threads with regards the Fox/Solar offerings . . .a few on my lake who have invested in the Solar are already shelling out for the latest adjustable width BBuddies bolt on . . .they are a 'must have' if you want to make the most out of a powered barrow IMO

So much for product development and extensive testing, I used to believe solar were the best of the companies producing gear for carp fishing. However since they got bigger and bigger and Lockie became less and less involved they seem to have become just another buy off the shelf from an oem in china and rebadge for hyper inflated prices in the UK.

I'm just baffled that most barrows with back wheels don't have a brake. Have they (solar,fox etc) not realised it would be an issue or have they just completely ignored the problem and released them anyway
The mk2 versions will definitely have some type of brake with the added bonus that the price will jump up to something like £1200

They were probably tested in 'ideal conditions', you know, the sort that show those shopping trolley rear wheels actually work...hmm, I know we'll use those, they work perfectly on flat level concrete, if they can cope with that mud & grass won't be a problem... a brake you're having a laugh, all pitches are flat and level...but my friend...as a optional extra
