Hi as per title. What do you consider to be a reasonable charge for a 48 hr session for two anglers on an 'open access water'. Lake would hold a decent stock from singles to upper 20's. Central/East Anglia.

Going rate in Northants is £25 per 24hrs. Albeit fishing for 30s too.

Depends on facilities as well I guess but for fish that size £20 per 24hrs is reasonable

Most open access lakes near me in the South East are 20-30 per 24hrs, some do reduced rates for longer sessions

£20 24hrs is pretty standard around Norfolk/Suffolk

North Midlands into Cheshire, you're looking at £25 per 24 hours. Some are £30 per 24 hours.

Similar sort of prices down here as well..

One thing that does come to mind though I have to say..across the board,I believe that carp angling could have potential to price themselves out of range of most people,including myself,i feel that some fisheries are vastly overpriced and not value for money at all..I don't say that easily or without some knowledge or experience either..

I can think of a couple of my local places that are cheaper,but I now avoid or disregard a fair few places I formerly spent a lot of time on..

Reasons are,greed,not good value,poor or non existent facilities,poor bankside and zreo general lake management, to start with,and like my neighbour said earlier 25 quid a night ,and no toilet...

A far cry from times past when it was only one pound a day to fish,times move on...!

So to put it in layman's terms,this is why I think a lot of people will soon stop carping so much as they did, as the prices do not match expectations...

Remember,I help manage three fisheries and know exactly what's involved,and I don't see £30 a night as cheap ..

I don't think £20-30 a day is over the top, it's £1 an hour. A round at the pub!
It's when you have to pay for 24hrs when doing a quick overnighter......

Yes, but a house cost £2000 back then, you could take someone out for a slap up meal and drinks for 50p and have change for a pint on the way home.......

It's fair to say most reasonable day tickets with facilities to take a number two at least and not setting up in a quagmire with fish in the lake over 30lb is now £25/30 a night country wide, if your the type to fish one night every week of the year £1300 to £1500 quid gets you a good choice of syndicate lakes maybe even two for that money the problem is getting on them and only benefits if your an angler that fishes most weeks or have the disposable income if your not getting the time to use it, it also makes a syndicate of around £350/400 a year with a good head of say 20lb fish and mixed course varieties seem very cheap at around a pound a day.

Yes,from that perspective it seems cheap ..

However on a 24 hr session,you factor in,bait ,food and distance travelled which equals fuel,and fuel today at this time is expensive..

If you add together the above factors ,as many will do in these times,then an overnight session based on 24 hrs plus can become expensive,especially on some venues..this will or could make Mr Average ,working person think twice about going..

Put it this way,angling to some is just a hobby,great for mental health for sure,for others it's a perceived neccessary..

Myself I look for a clean ,tidy ,well managed venue,with a toilet ,not bothered about a shop etc..

Some places available to me to fish ,don't even have decent parking, let alone a loo,and they want £30 a night ..thats greedy.

Places within 60miles of me with no facilities and park in the trees off road, rarely if ever caught unknown fish, no chance of putting a bivvy up but its free fishing.

The simple answer is to buy a decent club book. Loads of water for £150 a year. I personally think anyone who builds their seasons angling around day tickets must be insane. Unless they are new to the hobby and are just finding their way in it. Failing that I see day tickets for socials where a group of you that all fish different tickets can get together for a shin dig. Apart from that I avoid them at all costs. Also for anyone that's been fishing a while, they are generally frustrating places, too busy, too many idiots with zero bank side etiquette, often poor security, quite often manky parrot mouthed carp and represent in a lot of places pretty much everything wrong with modern carp angling.

So buy a club book and tuck yourself away on one of their unfashionable waters.

£25/£30 per 24 hours up here in the Northwest and you also on some waters are expected to pay an annual membership charge on top of the above charges. The commercial I am fishing this year charges £40 annually as a membership charge.

I would seriously struggle in Suffolk to find a decent club.
GAPS have only 2 carp lake venues, Alderson and Causeway, although you could try your luck on the River. The cost of that is around £125 plus a night permit at £100.

Suffolk Water Park is £30 for 24hours, which right now is more than I can afford, (and no dogs allowed), either long or short term for a seasons fishing. I would reckon it would cost me between £2700-£3000 to fish for a year.

Most day tickets for other venues locally are £8 for the day, but these aren't 'carp' waters.
