Just a matter of interest how many on here still using 12ft rods and how many are using 10fts as there main rods

Main rods 13', back up mains 12'6, floater rod at 9'. All others 12', might have a 10' feeder & pellet waggler rod, can't rem.
I could get smaller rods but just don't see the need, though appreciate it's en trend. I've nothing against them, each to their own 😎

Did 10ft retractable rods for about a year, moved back to 12ft rods this summer.
Really enjoyed the versatility of the retractable 10ft rods, but my fishing is better with 12ft rods.
I do still have some cheap retractables for some very small club waters but normally when I go fishing I go to grab the 12ft ones first

12s for carp , 10s for cats. Unless using a boat there's really no point in 10s for carp imo

I’ve been using 10fts for years but this year really struggled in margins where there was loads of reeds and I find them not good to cast might be me also got some 9fts which I don’t like at all so I to leaning to go back to 12fts

Current rods are 12'
Previous rods were 12'
The rods before those were 12'
Next rods will most likely be.................12'
I have to go back a while before I was using something shorter, there was a set of 11' 6'' Geoff Kemp rods and prior to that a set of 11' KM1's

Switched to 10ft retractables this year and not looked back. Initial reason was for easier transportation in the car and this still remains today.
I tend to fish close in or use a bait boat where allowed, so no issue with casting. At first I thought they would be an issue where I fish that has expansive reed beds around all swims, but so far I have not had any significant issue to land fish.
Once I found a rod that meet my action requirements, I dont see myself rushing back to my 12ft rods any time soon.

Been using 10 foot scopes for a few years now. Cant fault them for use in the UK and France.
Easier to get into the car as well as already mentioned below.

Been using 10 footers for about 6 years now, and have no plan to go back to 12 footers. I just prefer the feel of them, 12 footers seem really cumbersome nowadays. Great in tighter swims, OK up to about 80 yards which is the majority of my fishing. I do have longer rods and bigger reels for larger waters, but haven't used them since last year. I've never had any issues with losing fish in marginal reeds.

Depends on the lake / casting vs boats etc . . .this season mainly 10's but also use 12's on specific lakes and def for floater fishing in the summer etc . . .use 13's sporadically but only on bigger waters / boat ban lakes etc
I was sceptical a few years back, but for most 'general' UK carping, 10's are def worth having a go with - sooo much lighter / easy to use / enough grunt for decent fish etc etc. Have just 'upgraded' my 10' CTX SPM rod to an Aviator 10' SPM because I'm a tart and it matches lol. . . . .😀

I’ve been using 9ft rods for about 20 years and they’re a serious edge in certain circumstances, just as 12ft rods are.
I’ve also used 6ft and 10ft rods. I’m probably going to get a set of Harrison Telos’s because the pack down size of retractable’s offers so much flexibility. As a mere mortal caster I’m also interested to see what their casting abilities are like, especially as the new Scope Black Ops GR 3.75 rods have achieved up to 200 yards. I appreciate Jermaine Hull is an animal when it comes to casting but it’s great to see the continued development of these shorter rods.

My go to rods are 12fts for 80% of my fishing, got a heavier set for pva bags and a lighter setup for standard fishingIf im boat fishing 10fts. Lakes where I need 120+ then the 13s come out.
I've got a set of 3 century 12ft 3.5lb. a set 3...10ft...3lb that i use on my current water as there isn't any really long distance fishing... and 3 9ft retractables in 3lb that my son likes to use
I’ve got short rods and I’ve got long rods.
I’m happy with them all.
Just use what rod you want and are happy to and worry less about trying to justify to fit a status quo

Got some scope ops retractable in 10 foot and really like them. If i was fishing a water at range i would use my 12 foot rods every time
I think you have to match the rod to the water. Mostly use my 10ft black op scopes these days but if I visit a massive pit then the torrixes come along. I've just found a cracking little water literally on my doorstep and I'll be using the 8 footers there.
Mainly 12 here, but I do fish a small lake once or twice a year on a social lake exclusive booking type set up, it’s an old match make so it’s long and narrow and I brought a set esp quickdraws for that, decent little rods had a good hand full of mid 20s on them just don’t think I could comfortably get the range I fish at on my normal water
