Ok, TBH I'd rather post something more positive, but occasionally things happen which get you going.
I got a PM from a new poster enquiring about the ND2 Baitboat, quoting he had seen a previous post of mine and asking about battery life.
I could have just pointed him to a review I have posted which explains most things, but as he was new, had a query, I thought that either telling him to do a search, or even providing a link to said item may seem a bit dismissive so I sent him a detailed response despite being quite busy and banged it off. 30 minutes of my life I'll never get back, but hey Ho! helping another angler isa good thing - right?
That was it. **** all response. No cheers👍. No comeback. No telling me I'm a ****er. Zilch. Niet. Bugger all.
It's not a new phenomenon either and not just new members. One of our more senior (ish) members who sits on a very high horse and loves telling people how to live their lives is also guilty of basic rudeness that his parents should have taught him different is guilty also.
Why are people basically so rude and frankly bad mannered. Ask a question, someone takes the trouble to answer, then why not just acknowledge it, even if it doesn't solve all your problems. Politeness cost nothing and two or three word typed is sooo easy.

People below a certain age don't know how to communicate with the rest of the human race.
Poor parenting, a piss poor education system, lack of discipline and of course all their formative years spent on a games machine in mum's back bedroom.

I agree.
The youth think they are owed it and it's noticeable when you find the polite ones which shows how endemic it is.
But I have also seen and recently read that there are some real rude old men, who should know a lot better. I'm 57 and have probably had less than a handful of grumpy moments as fish mainly syndicate type waters - yet you still get moaners and stroke pullers that almost take enjoyment falling out. It amazes me how anyone that goes fishing to relax can rev themselves up to create trouble when there is none.
I've messaged people on here for help and have responded to requests and have always had responses of thanks and done the same. I've also purchased off here and it's been an absolute delight and even when there is a bump in the road communication and spirit has been spot on.
For thread responses I always try and use “in my opinion” as I'm not saying I'm right or your wrong, moreover I hope this is helpful, yet you still get some snappy responses that are rude. 99% of people are always trying to help, about 30% lack manners or social skills - it's a shame and it took only months for the covid goodwill to pass.

I'm fed up of rude people doesn't matter if they are old or young people are getting ruder,had a guy at work expects people to hold door for him while her gets his bike in,not a thank you or even a please regarding the door being open so now I don't bother with people like him I'm not the only one to notice his attitude

After earning the prestigious title of 'Power-Crazy Stalker' from multiple police forces in the southeast, I figured it was time to put my skills to good use and do some background snooping...
I can confirm that 'said user' HAS read the PM and was last on the site at 27 Nov 2024 at 8.23pm.

I run a very large team of people of all ages (me being the oldest) - it's unbelievable how the generations differ. None of them do anything on purpose, it's just the way they are. No big deal. I guess we look at them as our fathers / grandfathers looked at us; with annoyance, frustration and amusement, but ultimately with care, which is what's most important. If the older generation don't take the younger under their wing and nurture them then who will? And more poignantly, who would have a legitimate right to complain?

I have to agree but add I no longer think it's the 'normal' generational gap.
My random ponderings..I think it's the internet age and a lazyness for convenience, not a bad thing online, it has it's place, but face to face it doesn't work, in either language or mannerisms, or when dealing inter generation.
When I read the initial post I thought how rude, then I thought what woud my sister say...she would have said 1st..did you expect a reply (and left me questioning) and then it's a bit rude though. My sister is mid 40's but very 'in touch' 'trendy' and very used to dealing with people.
I think the difference will mellow as the older genrations die off and you're quite correct re tolerance to the young but with working from home becoming 'the norm' it makes you wonder how many people will venture into the real world with potentially dangerous concequences.

Try going on a cruise the rudeness ignorance and misery and entitlement from the older guests is off the scale .Came off a cruise last week and the young people were happy and polite the older generation were on the whole awful beyond belief .My wife finds this at the hospital she works she said 90% of the rude miserable sometimes nasty patients are older women (karens) quite often they are control freaks with their husbands as well
