that finds this FASHION to kiss the fish before putting it back silly ? I just dont get it kising a slimey fish what are you trying to prove ?
I love Carp and treat them as good as I possibly can but dont see any benefit to the fish or me to kiss it

Nope I'm with you on that one Gerry, i have lived and breathed carp fishing for over 35 years now and can honestly say I've never kissed a carp nor will i ever, knowing my luck i would probably catch something nasty like a bacterial infection anyway

I think this is one of the most stupid things ever aswell if I'm honest, so dangerous aswell especially when doing it with a big carp in your hands. Tom maker called it out saying you can drop the fish when doing it and I agree

I'm gonna buck the trend here, if it is a PB or a fish I have worked bloody hard to catch I will give the bloody thing a kiss - but only during or after a water shot if one is taken (another trend that some may disagree with I suspect?)
As for the PB bucket drenching, in the right circle of friends and for some fun I don't see anything wrong with this.
Of course each to their own, people splashing water at the carp as it swims away seems pointless to me.

I have kissed fish in the long distant past, but probably grew out of it rather than any other reason, now it's a rarity, pictures and get it back.
As for the bucket soaking, personally childish jinks, and I am glad that I normally fish alone.

Not something I've ever done, but I remember seeing it done in the 70's, 80's, 90's and 00's.
The one that makes me chuckle is the little slash of water towards the fish as it's released. I'm sure the first time I saw that was a TH video.
Lots of copycats doing that at every level.

Thats NOT really true though is it ?
Weil's disease a form of leptospirosis is contracted from the urine of infected rats or contaminated water not quite so common here but still possible
the risks are MUCH higher when fishing outside the UK

I've got no interest in kissing a fish, not for any reason than although I like catching them they don't literally turn me on , but each to their own.
I had Leptospirosis years back and was lucky to catch it relatively early (10days), that was bad enough but I avoided the worst of it. I wouldn't recommend those 10 days to anyone. If I'm at a more popular venue, linear etc then I use the anti-bac religiously now, although haven't been quite as good with it when fishing my syndicate lake. It's nice and clean there, no litter, middle of nowhere, but did see my first rat the other day so will try to get back in to it.

Errr .......Emphasizing a point is ONLY really possible through the use of CAPS when writing
and I had a good friend that prior to passing away had the last few years of his life ruined suffering from weil's disease so it makes sense to take precautions

Same, never kissed a fish, never put one in a retainer for 2 minutes and taken a photo of it with the caption 'one in the cells' never unnecessarily worn waders, don't have a teddy bear at the base of my rods, folded reel handles, had water chucked on me, the list goes on.
Find all these things a bit cringy, but whatever makes people tick, it's up to them really. I don't get visually excited or start shouting 'get in' either.
Having said all this, looking back at the tarty tackle threads back in the day, I suppose the way we fawned over bobbins and stuff was equally silly.

All seems utter madness to me kissing a bloody fish! Reminds me of the Johnny Vegas sketch he should have lost his rod licence.
As for chucking your expensive fragile rods and reel's about, they would not do it if they had to pay for them.
