My 1st thought was Willy Worms, but they're £3.20, it's cheaper in bulk. 4pints £10.99, but that is a big supplier & P+P on top.
Given WW price I suppose a tackle shops got to make a little more and for the convenience I find it hard to begrudge, though I did almost spit my tea out when I read your post...I'm so out of touch :-(

I think £3.50-£4 for a pint is standard now, energy prices likely have doubled in the last year so keeping them fresh costs extra.
Buying bulk is best as always for better pricing.

TBH always thought maggots good value, cheaper than a pint in the pub and last longer!

I don't know how true it is but my local shop told me there is only two maggot farms left in the country now as a few closed recently and this is the reason for the prices and current shortages we seem to have in this area. No idea if that's true or just an excuse...

Second this, at very best you ain't getting change from a tenner for 2 pints. Mental cause most of it is tax.

There is one near me, can still go down if you can stomach it and get them to fill a little bucket for a tenner. Be about 8 pints at a guess.

Agree with that, the only place near me a pint of maggots might the same as pint now is Wetherspoons. When I was growing up always remember beer and maggots being pretty much the same price. £5.50 for a Guinness is pretty common now, never had to pay that for maggots.

Yep, my local shop turned the fridges off all last winter and stopped selling maggots as the amount he sold that time of year wasn't worth running them.

We used to get them in Northants. Little tins of sawdust with 15 maggots and a caster inside

Put some fishmeal pellets in a bucket, soak them into a mush and hang the bucket up at the end of the garden. The rest is automatic. The maggots will be of good size in a week.

The thing is everyone is missing here is as well as the daft price is its too much for grass roots level and getting kids into the sport which is where we nearly all started.

Bit dramatic. When I was a kid I'd only buy and use half a pint a day trip out, I'm pretty sure kids these days have a couple of quid for maggots.
