Get yourself a silvered tarp, bungees and camo cord and set up an open sided sun shelter.

I went to Rainbow and the hottest heatwave they had had in 40 years happened !!
40c plus temps only dropping to mid 30s at night !!
I drove to the truckstop motorway services and bought one of those 8 inch blue truck fans
I had a folding 50 watt solar panel with me and found it ran perfectly directly off the solar panel
it was a proper life saver
so I reckon ANY of these fans will fun off a solar panel directly

Ive got a baby stroller fan. It takes 18650 li ion batteries (you can leave them in and charge them) it last about 12 hours. I think it was £20 of Amazon.
I keep seeing these come up on my Instagram.
No idea how good they are but thought they looked pretty useful

I have the Trakker usb fan that has a pad behind it for adding citronella oil, it runs off of my 20w solar panel no problem at all. Through the night, if needed, will run off a normal phone power bank too.

This is spot on, a open sided shelter (might have to get a bit bear grills and create something with ropes and poles but a sheet of tarp is deffo the way to go. Shade from the sun is key, a fan is good to noone, refardless how powerful it is....blowing warm air around a bivvy.

Bought this one from Amazon earlier in the week. Took it to work and put it on in my train cab (our old trains have no air con!), it was a lifesaver. 2nd speed level was enough, I had it on for 4.5 hours without the battery running out so I don't know how long it actually lasts. Flexible arms so can be hung off brolly ribs etc. 20% off too.

They look identical and more than likely are. My guess you could probably find that exact fan without the carpy brand stamped on for a fraction of those prices.....
A very quick search on amazon and I found the identical fan for 15 quid.

clearly you havent fished in extreme heat where the only way to stop the sweat running in your eyes no matter where you stood or sat was to have a fan blowing on you
look around the world any hot countries all have fans every where ceilings etc

Except it's £16 plus 3 quid postage lol
I only paid 20 quid for my Trakker and there were a couple cheaper places but I went with prime delivery instead
But yes, there will be un branded that will be the same, if no rush then i suspect cheaper on Ali or similar

OK that was a daft comment, I agree fan's do make a difference. I have fished in hot climates on the odd occasion and worked in even hotter ones for months on end. So yes I have been in extremely hot climates. Certainly worth setting up a shelter tho....or at least having the set up to do so because if you end up in a swim with no tree cover...... you'll roast in a bivvy, even with vents and a fan.

I've got the Trakker one and very happy with it.
Last week Morrisons were selling USB fans for £4 so I thought why not. It is s.hit. Soft blades and you need to be less than 6" away to feel it.

It's air movement that has the cooling effect. Stick you head out of a car window doing 60, when it's 80+ degrees outside, bet it feels cool.

Could well be easier yeah, or even a sideless gazebo if room allows.
The absolute worse place you can be in the heat of the day is sat in your bivvy, you are literally sat in an oven.
Basically some form of sideless shelter, have the shelter as high up as possible. Or better still pick a swim that's got a tree's behind you and will block out the sun for most of the day.
We have all fished on those days where one half of the lakes anglers are all wearing hoodys and fleeces (tree cover) and the over half sat in shorts and shirts off in the heat of the sun.

Fans can't invent cold air, they are a short term fix to keep moisture away. Fans in houses and especially ceiling fans can have some impact with open windows, but when the air temperatures are such, they are not magical enough to find new cooler air, or provide enough power to mimic sticking your head out of a car window.
The old days in cars they were shocking but that is how the science of fans is, they circulate air so only cool in enclosed spaces for a very limited time. In a car (pre air con) windows down was the only way and when stationary it was hotter inside than out, even with the fan on.they may be better than nothing but ultimately you need to find shade and paddle to really lower body temperature or have something cold behind the fan for it to recycle warm air into cold.

The cooling effect of a fan in a warm room comes from moving air over your sweaty skin. The moving air (warm or cold) speeds up the evaporation of the sweat, allowing your body to cool itself more effectively.
Think I've said it before on a thread somewhere but a nice little tip that works when its scorching, when I was fishing at Iktus for a bit in the height of summer and daytime temps were over 40 degrees, the Spanish anglers on the lake were prepared and brought rugs with them to throw over their bivvies, every other hour or so the would douse the the rug in the lake water (which although warm was a lot cooler than air temps and scorching sunlight) and then throw it over the top of their bivvies, whilst the water was warm it was a lot cooler than the bivvy material it achieved two things it cooled the bivvy material down as well as making it darker and more shaded inside, I was amazed at how much cooler it was in their bivvy as opposed to mine which was like a proverbial sweat box.

Been looking at them and think I won't bother as the new one seems to no longer have the pad at the back for citronella oil etc.looks like this is where the battery now is. Also using micro usb to recharge is stupid with everything going usb-c
Think I'll stick to just running off of solar or powerbank, will get far more runtime from a powerbank too..

Completely incorrect, fans blow cold air. Why, because the blades on the fan compress the air slightly and compressed air is cool. Uncompressed air is warm. So basically, the faster a fan is going and with the right shape blades blowing air out and compressing it, the air will feel cooler. Blast compressed air onto an object and it will freeze it with ice forming on it. Why do you think on a hot day out of the wind it is hot, but step out into the wind, its cooler, the wind is blowing gusts of compressed air. Basic physics.
Try it for yourself, blow on your arm with "pursed" lips, your breath will feel cool, the blow on your arm with mouth wide open, your breath will feel hot.

But, these days, usually in the Summer, I just take an ordinary fishing umbrella and sit outside of the bivvy under it and find that cool enough during the daytime.

Ive got a remote for the two meaco fans i bought last wk for our bedroom and my youngest daughters bedroom much easier than getting out of bed to turn it off. Lazy yes but why get out of bed when you dont need to. There no good for a bivvy but they defo dont blow hot air around. The bedroom was really cold had to turn it off and get under the quilt, best thing ive bought in years.

The cooling effect of air passing over a hotter object is probably due to convection, the hotter air in contact with a body replaced by slightly cooler air, drawing heat from the body.
Car fans nearly always suck the air through the radiator, rather than blowing it. The ambient air being drawn through is always cooler than the 95-100C engine coolant temperature when an electric fan would kick in.

If your capable of doing a simple experiment, stick a thermometer in front of a proper fan, not one of these "Mickey Mouse" things, and oddly enough, you will see that the temperature will drop a few degrees.
Now try explaining to the World, that it s because the thermometer is sweating, or its because its the effect of "disturbed air" because a thermometer is incapable of sweating or even has senses to detect "disturbed" air.
Or could it be that by the law of physics "compressed air is cooler than uncompressed air?

It's the same feeling of blowing on your finger..
Now sticking a wet towel over your bivvy that's going to have a greater effect that'll I'll agree with 👍🏼

I don't know about you lot but last 3 weeks in France I tested my little trakker usb fan in my bivvy and in the open air and can confirm that it cooled me by blowing air over me, nothing scientific but it made me feel cooler

My child's pushchair fan was amazing in France last week..I don't think I would have got any sleep without it! Its got gripper legs too so can be attached to a bedchair leg next to you.
