Anyone know of a very light sleeping bag for spring / early summer?
Once it's warm enough I will just use a thermal cover or just sleep in clothes but for this sort of time of year if prefer a bag.
I overheat when I sleep, so the 3/4 season one I use earlier in the year is too hot.
I brought a cheap jrc one (defender) last year as the only 2 season bags I could find was that one or a cheap fox but the foot space is terrible for sleeping on your back! Size 12 feet and just not enough room for them and end up sleeping at wierd angles.
Happy to pay whatever just don't seem to be many about.
Fortis techlite I keep looking at but that says 3 season with the layer removed so wondering if that would still be too hot.

Get a Snugpak jungle bag or blanket ..
Jungle bag can be used as a quilt ,as its zipped up all around,plus it has a built in mozzi head mesh . Very ,light ,compact .

I usually just use the Snugpak Jungle Blanket in the summer, plenty warm enough.
Nice and small packed up aswell. I still use a bedchair cover for underneath though.

I use a Snugpak Navigator, but might be a bit small for you, though it can be unzipped down the side and bottom to use as a blanket.

Jungle bags are a really good bit of kit. Not great on their own under 10 degrees I've been caught out a few times. A mid May to mid October bag on there own I'd say

TBH the best one was and god knows why they stopped making it ?? was the Trakker Snooze-Lite I bought one years ago for a Morocco fishing trip and it was brilliant

Thanks all, may get a jungle cover and see how that works out. The jungle bag looks good also but no retaining straps and that material I'd be worried about getting out of it quickly?
I did look at the Gardner crash bag as well but was again lack of retaining straps that put me off, I like everything to stay in its place when I get a night time run! From memory it only had a retaining hood at the top but nothing in the middle / bottom

Yeh I was really suprised at the lack of choice of light / 2 or 3 season bags.

Correct in regards to the hoods. I don't find it an issue but I do see the benefits of the other fittings as I have them on my Wychwood and Solar bags

Is that on a Bedchair wandle? Have heard of people using sim's underneath their bags for added comfort / warmth when on a Bedchair, a few people however said it makes them sweat / too warm?
What's the advantage of that one over a standard sort of sim which are £20-40 instead of £100?

This will be my first summer with a SIM, I have a Helium 3.8 so will see how that goes.

thats your answer a cheap sim you get what you pay for and in summer you will sweat like a rapist
backpackers that use SIMs want something they can LAY ON THE GROUND and be comfortable in all temps
personally I use a Helium 3.8 used it on 3 different bedchairs
initially I bought it for my Trakker ELS bed after buying the Snugpak Techlite sleeping bag I FELT COLD underneath ?
( I am claustrophobic and can never have the door down or bag zipped up) and the Helium 3.8 completely transformed the warmth and BONUS !!! I was shocked to find the comfort level increased!

Yes mate ,that's on top of a so called old skool ratchet ,Avid RT light weight bedchair,
It's not a SIM,the neoair ,it's a proper quality backpacking mattress,I use it instead of the Multimat ,which was a SIM ,,which I recommend, but now being totally honest those mulitimats have let me down,literally ...so that's why ,I'm using my bushcraft neo air ,so far ,it's much better than the SIM...,multimat ..

I have a Wychwood tactical which is good for warmer temperatures and 10 cm wider than the jungle bag (which I have never seen but is listed at 80 cm).

The sims I have were just old cheap ones I've used for camping in the past but just saw people saying sims make them too hot on Bedchairs , but presumably you've not found that with the Helium 3.8?
I've got a solar SP C-Tech so I'll have to check measurements to see if that fits, but you just use that at the bottom and Gardner cover on top?
I have the Gardner cover, brought on your recommendation 🤣 but feel that would be too cold on its own at the moment

There is no retaining straps on the jungle blanket
In the summer we use a large one as as our main bedcover at home when she moans just a quilt cover isn't warm enough.
The larger one fits a double bed.

Thank you 👍🏼 I presumed the blanket didn't have retaining straps, as its so large (the xl) was hoping I could sort of fold it in half and wrap it around me. Saying that I'm a fidget when I sleep so would likely getting all kinds of tangled up in it!

It wouldn't take a lot of work to create some Velcro loops to attaché it to your bedchair though if you really wanted to.
they are made of a slippy material so probably a good idea if you fidget if you get the smaller one

I guess it depends on what bedchair you have, as in whether it's stretched out or not.
I have it on an avid memory lite, footroom is fine, as the bed is slightly narrower than the bag.

Thank you, it's to go on a solar SP C-Tech, standard size not the wide but it's still a fairly wide bedchair as standard. May have to just buy one and see 👍🏼

Listed as 80 cm the SP-TECH so should be fine. Foot room/ more movement is partly why I got bed+bag rather than system.

I did get a system with my solar Bedchair but it's disgustingly hot for me 🤣 even when it was 0 overnight it was way too hot for my liking. 2 Night of use and been in the loft ever since!

Spring through to late Autumn when Winter is starting to kick in, all you need is a good heavy wool blanket or good fleece lined bedchair cover and as a backup, use them both together.
For years since the 60's its all I have used through the warmer months. These days, I can also use a poncho liner or a jungle sleeping bag opened out as a blanket.
There is no need for a sleeping bag.

Going back to the original question, an excellent cheap summer bag is the Prologic lite-pro. Can be picked up for around £55 currently, and is well made and an impressive bag for the price.
It fits a Solar SP C Tec perfectly (normal, not wide), and is 215cm x 90cm.

I used to over heat when I slept, which was down to a thyroid issue, now sorted, but even then I used to use and still do use a Gardner Bedchair Cover from June through until September generally.
I found the restriction of a sleeping bag, even with the zips down made it worse for me, and find the airflow when using a bedchair cover a lot more comfortable.
