Hi All,
Just joined a new club with 5 waters which are walking distance from each other so need to stay mobile (a barrow is not going to be an option).
I'm after some new 10ft rods and reels to suit, max cast will be no more than 30/40 yards from what I have seen but also some luggage to suit so I can easily carry it all.
Any recommendations?

no need to spend silly money these days
Daiwa always produce great rods on good blanks take a good look at the Daiwa Vertice Carp Rods 10ft 3lb they will cast 3ozs and can cast 120 yards
there are 3 models the Black widow ,then Vertice then the heavier Daiwa Crosscast XT 3.5Lb
when I put a post up on here and facebook asking about 10ft rods
someone sent me pictures of a few catfish around 40 od lbs he caught fishing a runs water in France using his 10ft Daiwa Vertice rods)
( he did not know catfish were in the small lake when he and his son booked it ) they had carp up to 35lb too he said the rods were amazing

Cheers both but I think the rods would be overkill, these are very small lakes. Something in the range of 2lb to 2.5lb would be fine I think. Just can't seem to find many firms who do those.

Reel wise Okuma Inc6000 are very good for the money. Also I really like my Sabre 40 litre rucksack it's easy to carry and very versatile

Have you considered the 12ft sonic insurgent recon rods?
I own a set of 9ft scopes, and the only benefit of them was the packdown size, actual fishing wise I find them a hindrance. The 12ft sonic rods fit into a 10ft scope rod bag.

I haven't used a 12ft rod in over 5 years now. For the waters I fish they just aren't needed. Some of venues have tiny swims with overhangs and nooks to get into which make a 12ft almost unusable in those areas.

If you can find some then the TF Gear Compact Commercial 10' 2.5lb Carp Rods will suit your requirements very well,
Reels - Okuma Inc 6000 if want a pit style reel or some Super Baitrunners

ESP Rucksack - tackle, bait, food, water

You could try the Korum Opportunist rods, they do an 8ft 2lb or a 10ft 2.25, that's if you don't mind cork handles..

Scopes are great for mobility. I use 9ft ones in 3lb, pretty powerful rods. Believe the 10fts are a bit softer. 2.25lb is very light and soft, have one for floater work. I use the two rod scope holdall and then extra single skins.
Daiwa GS40000LTD is a nice reel.

I've got a 9ft 2.25tc Scope which is a nice little rod. I believe they do them in 10ft as well. I'd still recommend the 2.5tc Baby Ballista's as a great small to medium water rod, although at 11ft longer than you've asked about.

I fish somewhere similar and use extending Ultimate Bionic 2.75tc rods and okuma inception 6000's. I actually bought these rods as my other rods were just too stiff. Lovely rods to play fish on, they should cope adequately with the situation you are faced with.
I use the korum transition folding quiver for short mobile sessions as i can put them in the quiver without breaking them down, this is a revelation when moving around!
Obviously at the end of the day you break them down for transport.

I know this is an old thread but am looking at getting set up.
How is the balance of this outfit ? Able to catch smaller fish aswell larger fish with it .

I've just gone through a task of finding rods to go with some old 5010 bait runners. After loads of advice I went for some 12ft 225's and after using once really happy with my choice.
There was a lot of love shown towards the baby ballista too which are a slightly higher tc.
I think I called the thread 2.5tc 12ft rods. Doesn't do reels but lots of small water rod options

I got one rod for stalking, free spirit e class 8'6", coupled with a Shimano 4000 DL bait runner. I enjoyed using it that much I got a second and used them as my main setup for my angling. Like you I had a variety of lakes, some days only, so I was always on the move and predominantly fishing sub 40yards.
I originally got one for stalking in awkward places, hence the 8'6", but the 10fts would offer better versatility for longer range and depending on your line diameter maybe a 6000 spool.

Sonik Xtractor 10ft
Okuma INC-6000
The xtractor rods served me well for about 3 years and i still sometimes use them now. I believe the 10ft variant is dirt cheap these days so if budget is a concern, you wont go far wrong with a set.
After using my Gardner Covert's with a much nicer blank on them, I would be looking to get something like the Sonik Insurgents in 10ft and if i had endless cash, i would look at the Black Ops offering but the difference between them and the insurgents is marginal apparently and not worth the extra hundreds the Nash offering costs.

Am currently looking at wychwoods Extricator you can get 9ft 2.75lb rod for cheap at present and the 5000 Extricator reel.
The esp stalker rod is option been looking at to in the 2.75lb.
I don't want a broomstick so 2.75lb would be best suited for my mostly small waters

Second this, I'm currently using 3 as most lakes around me are small to medium so no need for something that can cast far.
They'll chuck a solid bag as far as you'll need.

i had extricator reels for a bit, i didnt like how much play they had in the handles so got rid of them for a set of Nash Scope 4000's. I even put carbon washers in the extricators...
Loved the Nash reels and tbh, i kinda wish i went for the 6000's because i'd still have them today. the 4000's felt too small on a 10ft setup.
After these, i opted for the INC-6000's, much better than the extricators.

Harrison three piece 9ft 2.75 tc x 3 paired with daiwa ss 2600 also have
Harrison 10ft stalkers 2.75 tc x 3 paired with okuma 6000
Wychwood extricator plus rods are very good

It was the brilliant tfg compact carp 10ft 2.5lb rods, with shimano xte super baitrunners.
Really no point having short beefy rods for smaller waters. I fished with this for several years and only found it lacking on the odd occasion.
I decided to up the reels to old daiwa emblem s 5000t (qd and proper clips), this gave better casting and more cranking.
I then decided to use some other rods that I had sulking in the spare room.
These rods are tfg x2 12ft 2.75lb, super slim and a lovely action. This gave me a bit more length that smoothed out the playing curve so it wasn't as abrupt as it was with the shorter rods. It also gave me a bit more casting distance and reach for marginal reeds etc.
I have now sold the 10fters as I'm happy with the more versatile 12s.
I do have a heavier set up for bigger waters or long chucking solid bags.

my small.water set up is 3 x 2.75tc future fishing 9ft rods coupled.with shimano 5500 xtd.
I also have 3 x 10ft 3lb fox horizon x (original pencil thin blanks) and I actually use my emblem 45s with these and they feel fine, don't feel unbalance or look out of place.

Anything get close to this for its size and quality ?

A Daiwa TDR 4012 is a miles better reel than a 2600. Even a TDM 4012 (cheaper version) is probably a better reel. If you look hard you can find TDR's for under £150.
A mate of mine needed a new reel a few months ago and he looked at everything available including 2600's. He ended up with a TDR and loves it - light, compact and a superb drag.
I wouldn't buy a GS reel either. But those and 2600's are retro and viewed as cool......
My other choice would be a Shimano 4000 GT-RD. Similar size but has a Fighting drag - so super versatile.

Not sure why the GS would be retro - it's a much much smoother, more modern reel than the SS2600, which looks great but is a wobbly old relic. The Ninja 4012 is better than the SS2600 as well, I've just put one of those on my floater rod.

The TDR 4012 is a very very good reel, well regarded in the match scene, that's where you'll find most of the reviews for it. I considered it, but I'm not a fan of a front drag so I went for the Shimano X Aero 4000 which I rate quite highly for a small reel. Again though, I couldn't get on with the double handle so bought the single handle for it. They can be picked up for around the same price or less than the Daiwa, worth consideration. I bought a set of them, 1 is used on my surface rod, but the thought is to use them on my 2lb Torrix when targeting smaller Carp and Barbel on rivers and smaller waters.

I've just managed to buy x3 sonik 9ft insurgent rods 2.75 tc for £150 thought that was a steal I will only use two most the time for my local canal- think they will be perfect 🤩.
