Need to re spool the reels. Currently using esp synchro and like it but interested to hear others go to line. Check I'm not missing anything

Thinking anglers OGX have used syncro and GTHD I personally think it's better but every line suits people different it's personal opinion and what suits one won't suit another 👍

No you're not,stick with it as its the best all rounder imo.I changed to the new Thinking Anglers one and it was utter garbage,I have never had a mono birds nest on a cast.I do keep thinking of trying the new Fox Exocet Pro as Exocet does cast better in 0.37mm

I love the Ashima ganster strong, brown. It come on bulk spools, it's cheap and is very abrasion resistant, it has low stretch and it sinks medium well.

CM90 is being discontinued. Not happy as I would have used it forever. Not sure what to consider next. Didn't get on with the ESP.

If that's true then it's music to my ears. Which other thread was it mentioned? There's usually about 10 different line threads going on at any one time.

Fox EOS in 20lb. Can't rate this highly enough - great colour (light green), low diameter, incredibly strong and cheap. I've used many lines over the years and even the top end ones don't come close to this.

Discontinued last year, below is a email reply from Berkley. Strange thing is it still shows on their link but I'm told it's old stock and a new range of lines are coming out to replace it.

I'm looking for a new mono this year too.
I've been using the Korda Tapered line and really like it but I want to try a darker line this year.
I thought Syncro XT always get good reviews but see nobody has mentioned it on this thread yet.

I walked into Angling Direct a couple of years ago and asked what line was selling well recently. He sold me a tin of Fox Exocet and i really like it, so i just bought another tin. I was going to change to Fluoro but decided to stick with what i have.

I loved the original but the Trans Khaki was pants,the new Pro version is supposed to be better and back to the original colour

Trans Khaki is what I am currently using and i really have not had any issues with it. I know there are probably better lines out there but im happy to stick with this for a while.
Plus youre not allowed to slate anything trans nowadays

Also sticking with Synchro XT (and have been using since release post my brief flirtation with Fluorocarbon / diehard Suffix Synergy user prior to that)
Have put some 18lb Gardner GT HD on my floodwater barbel set up and I quite like the fact that its got less stretch but not enough to switch on my carp gear . . .

I've been using p-line extrusion for a few years now - there's a seller who ships from Poland on eBay, so it is expensive, but for me takes some beating.

I believe its been discontinued but the Shimano Technium is the best line I've used but pricey at around £30.
I'm currently using Ridgemonkey RM-Tec which is ok but i wouldn't use it again.

If what you have works for you, don't change it. You like the ESP synchro, it does what you want.
Any new line you will be wary of until you are used to it.
Purely on a personal note, I've been using Gardner Pro since just before it's release.

I used Shimano Technium Black for as long as i can remember and its the best line I've used, if it wasnt for it being discontinued id still use it.
Not at all, its the first line I've tried from coming off Shimano, the Ridge Monkey was cheap but i don't like the way the line sits, I'm too tight to respool fresh line after 2 sessions.

As I said in my earlier post I'm trying the ogx line from thinking anglers and I'm happy so far with it it sits on the reel all tight and compact and comes off not so much springy(if you know what I mean) and casts and sinks well,just come back from 2 nights out on the bank didn't catch but very happy with the line so far and will see how it holds up going into the year.

Genuine question - When do you all experience issues with your mono? When it is dry, i.e, on the first casts, or when it has been in the water a while?
I have tried a few mono lines over the years and they all perform much better when saturated.
I generally try and get some water on my spools asap - even using the soaked sweatband trick I saw on an ESP video - seems to work for me.
Just my observations.

I normally on first time use wrap a lead round a post it peg in ground and walk back to stretch it then cast it out get line wet

Wet mono casts better than dry mono, sounds pretty obvious, but it's definitely true. I tend to have a quick practice cast, a short cast just to wet the line if I'm casting over 60metres or so. Below that I'm happy to cast out dry.
Mono then deteriorates over time. Rubbing over weeds, silt, rushes etc will gradually damage it, as does casting and playing fish.
Both casting and playing fish, you stretch it and it then contracts. It can only handle this so many times before it starts to twist, to give way.
Even if the weeds or rushes don't abrade the line, rubbing over can 'crinkle' it, and a run ring can gradually wear the line down.
The number of times an angler decides the line is cacke, yet he's played 40 carp on the same 50metres of line, and it suddenly breaks. It has simply been taken beyond stress point.
An angler moans the line is rubbish, his mainline to hooklink knot has been cast out hundreds of times, the knot has been stretched, contracted, and pulled tight, it suddenly breaks just above the knot....

As far as i knew Black was discontinued a few years back, there would be a big difference as black is as black as they come and the dark grey is more silver.

Another vote for P Line extrusion. I have that in 23lb on a few spools, together with Technium which I've recently started using for cats in 30lb and that stuff is bomb proof from my early trials. I'm quite late to that mainline but I'd lost a few big moggies on sensor and was searching for something new and so far no losses.
