My trakker storm poles are on their last legs and I'm looking for a couple of replacements for my tempest . Could I have some recommendations for some decent ones please . Also what adapters might I need to connect to the tempest , thanks?

Fox cam lock ones and get a couple of the prologic quick release adaptors one part screws into the storm pole and the other parts screws onto the tempest storm caps

+1 for Fox Storm poles with the augered points / quick release adaptors - have had mine decades and they are rock solid.
If you want to go cheap the NGT poles are also pretty good; would def buy NGT quick release over Prologic as they are exactly the same but cheaper - £6.95 for a pack of 3x off NGT online

The Cygnet or Avid storm poles are pretty good, I've used both.
I've even used 'cheap' generic aluminium ones.
I'm wary of spending silly money on them unless I get strong steel as Sky running out of the bivvy and round the storm pole has a tendency to bend them with her lead as it pulls tight.

for the auger point Fox. I found the 48" a bit long for my Tempest V2 so cut them down to about 44".

Fox are good but prefer cygnet with the two locking nuts as they never budge.
The new avid stormpoles get very good reviews,Mr Linkypoos himself loves them

They just screw into/onto a standard thread so will fit anything. I've got them, ironically I find they are sometimes difficult to pull out of each other and it would have been quicker to screw the poles off

I was just taking storm poles tonight with a mate . Iv got the NGT ones , not really used them much as they are for fishing on high sticks but they are good quality .
Infact Iv ordered another one so I had 3 for an upcoming French trip
Priced at about £22 for 2 you can't go wrong

NGT connectors are 'Medium' sized (when sizing next to Prologic) - best way to maintain is to use wd40 / lubricant sporadically - once the connectors start to wear a little / rain & dirt gets in and the powder coat depletes they can rust and therefore become difficult to budge
NGT storm poles are great value (and light) but are not as strong as the fox variants - I have bent the inners slightly on a couple barbel fishing so have demoted them to bivvy support only . . .

Just checked and actually it's the Avid quick click adaptors I've got. And they stuck from brand new, no rust as they're nylon.

over the years I think I have used almost every make of Storm poles from the cheapest to the most expensive
JUST to name a few
Chub Cygnet Fox JRC Solar Berkley some cheap stainless ones bought in Europe AND SOME SILLY EXPENSIVE CARBON ONES ones etc etc
and ones that were good in terms of lightness were FOX however the camlock clamps were the WEAK point and slip after a few uses
FINALLY THE BEST YOU CAN POSSIBLY BUY in my honest opinion are the AVID LOK DOWN STORM POLES with their unique cam locking
at the time of purchase I was 17 stone of pure f***ing muscle
no seriously the camlock is adjustable !!
so over the years any wear its simply a case of a turn on the bolt and its back to impossible to make it slip
they are so well made and not stupidly heavy either best money I have ever spent on a set of Storm poles I use a set of 48" for barbel fishing and converted a few people on the Trent after showing them
also I can recommend if you want to go VERY lightweight Cygnet Slimline Storm Poles
I have used these on my 50" brolly system and plan on using them on my new Solar Undercover brolly now too good weight saving and on my spod bucket stand

Me and you are going to fall out lol - NEVER had a prob with the Fox cam locks - again with a little maintenance (ensuring they don't get filled with grit) they have been faultless for donkies and to date I've never had one break.
Saying that will take a look at Avid ones for the Trent etc - can you get them with augered / power-drive type points?

That's what Trakker recommend, but if you use the sleeves on the zip on front I found the locking screws were within the sleeve, so use longer ones.

right camlocks facts ! the crappy cam locks on Fox only lock on one small area at the front
the VASTLY superior Avid Lok down lock all the way round so probably 75% more locking area

I've got some Avid lok down banksticks (not storm poles) and can move them with the cams closed. Maybe the storm poles are different.

do they have a nut and bolt ?
as on the Storm poles clamp thats the adjustment simply tighten the bolt with the allen key

quick question on storm poles.. when i hit them with a rubber mallet to drive them into hard ground it seems to knacker the insert part so that the top section wont slide in properly - are you not supposed to be hitting them with a mallet?!

Look for palm saver on e Bay. Mod one might meet your needs. However you really shouldn't need to hammer in storm poles. They are more for tensioning the shelter than pinning it down. If you've pegged it out securely it should be ok

depends on where you are fishing but people don't tend to use mallets for fear of scaring the fish.
some storm poles have threads in the points - these are best screwed into the ground.
if you are going to use a mallet on a storm pole, take the inner pole out first & use it on the outer part only. when it's in place, slide the inner in afterwards.

My monkey/forge brolly came with magnetic adapters for the poles,it's not something I would have bothered with normally,got to say there excellent.
I didn't know solar made something similar.

My Korum brolly came with a couple of poles that have a thinned down tip of around 2 inches and are brilliant because the storm pole doesnt do the work, the ground peg does. You use the storm pole only to tension so you have the forces working in different directions.
