I surf & I've got a DryRobe one which is really good & warm, however they're really expensive now. There is something very similar made by Ocean & Earth called a Super Storm Front Poncho which is currently on sale down from £125 to £62:50. I can't do links but it's on their website under Ponchos & Towels

I'm an all season openwater swimmer, I have seen a lot of these in various shapes and makes. My advice would be that if you can afford it the original dryrobe is a superb design, very high quality materials and zip. They will last for years. Briliant things, I use it for all sorts. From watching the kids sports in the rain, sitting outside with friends, swimming, fishing etc. It was only a matter of time before this was picked up by the tackle companies.

None. Dry robes and the copies are designed for surfers etc not fishermen.
Apologies but I live in sea side town and you wouldn't believe the wallies that turn out in their finest with a dry robe or copy as a coat!

I just don't understand people following dodgy fashion trends.
Zero benefit over a normal jacket and multiple negatives. Including looking like a muppet in a big baggy thing

Well,I see people wearing these daily ,most don't even go in the sea it's fashionable right now with the wanna be middle class surfing brigade .
There is a new word being bandied about..'Zeath triers'...ie Polzeath Plonkers,they all trying look cool . .lol

I use one for paddle boarding when getting changed but i cant see any use for one in a fishing situation at all, unless you like to strip off when your fishing and sit bollock naked under one or want to look like a complete tit.
Sorry must be well out the Loop.... what is a " Dry Robe " ???

A Parka basically but oversized and lined so surfers and the like can strip off and get changed under them whilst keeping their dignity and warmth and a bit waterproof on the outside, given the conditions they are used in.

thats exactly what i was thinking where is the benifit in using one of thoses unless your half dressed or wet ?. Why not just not get wet in the first place >?

So basically, completely useless in a fishing situation unless you fall in. If that is the case you could always take your clothes off in you bivvy though.

As I live just over the estuary from them, totally agree. Only allowed to wear them on the beach*, when doing beachy things. They're too warm and bulky to wear as a coat.
*Or at the cricket ground, which is possibly one of the windiest grounds in the uk, in early spring. At least it's next to the beach.

me and the family do a fair bit of festivals and camping and are big fans of the concept - We own dry robes for the kids (who primarily use them after swimming) or when were camping and they are excellent but v expensive - me and the mrs couldnt say no when we noticed Wiggle recently had the well reviewed Föhn Adventure Robe - Long Sleeve in the sale for £47.50 half price and more
Have to say very pleased with it when stood stationery at a festival getting hammered on or for getting changed - they are oversized remember as primarily designed for changing in as opposed to doing the big shop so I sized down (does make me chuckle seeing people in Tesco wearing them with crocs)
Great bit of kit but its not something ill be using in my fishing - they are big and bulky so ill stick to me Aqua/Fortis waterproofs and Buffalo kit for the winter
