Where do you keep your head torch when you are asleep? Is it safe to keep it on your head? Is there a risk the battery could over heat/explode?

I have a Petzl Zipka and due to it's unique head strap I wear it like watch

Personally I have always worn mine around my head whilst sleeping and never had any issues.

Lay it on my footwear (crocs usually) by the side of my bedchair. So when i get a take in the Night and go to slip my shoes on, I wont miss it! Works a treat for me.

I wear mine around my neck so it's super quick to deploy if I get a bite, works for me 👍

I lay it all out shoes glasses lamp.. I couldn't wear it on my head as I move about too much but if you can it won't blow your brains out. My boy wearers his like a watch. Just do what suits you.

Put mine on my bucket along with my glasses next to my bedchair , grab them both whilst slipping the crocs on - works for me 👍

Use the top of my carryall as a little table

All these places that we store a head torch

On the head, during colder nights it's perfect for holding a hood up wile you sleep too

Double it over and wear it around my left wrist.... can put it on with one hand while playing a fish easily enough.

Never felt comfortable with it around my neck, i always used to manage to get the light between my head and pillow.

Either put mine in my pocket or hang it up on a hook by the door, although 9 times out of 10 i dont bother using it until I've actually netted the fish!

TBH i just leave it on my bucket next to the bed. I dont use it while playing fish. just go an get it to sort the fish out one in the net.

Round my neck. simple to pull up with 1 hand if holding rod in the other.

If it's cold, I leave it on my head over whatever headgear I'm wearing. If it's warm, I wear it round my neck. It's a Petzl Tikka and I have no issue putting it on one-handed.

Exploding headtorch battery? I've always thought that passing away while on the bank wouldn't be a bad way to go...

Another vote for wrapping it around my wrist like a watch. I don't have to even think about it then, should I need it. Grabbing my glasses is the main priority as I'm pretty blind without them!

Neck

I have one hanging up on a hook by the bivvy door, and one on the floor by my rods.

I have on of these on my cap, which sits on my tackle box at night

I grab it from the bivvy table on the way out, however I don't use a torch unless it's a no moon night in a wooded area. On open banks with a moon there is enough light to land a fish. I use the headlight on red if needed to unhook, weigh, and return the fish.

I place mine next to my receiver and when it gos off... Lol that's if it go's off in the night i can see my head torch as the receiver lights up.. Have a small table next to the bed so even in the dark its always to hand

Usually around my neck. If snag fishing, the last thing I want to do is add extra seconds slipping on shoes and grabbing a head torch. If i'm on a two rod water with open swims, it'll get hung over the middle rod rest.

If you want completely hands free, I'm guessing you could strap a headtorch that has a sensor onto a bankstick and have that shining into the margins when you run out for a take.

I wear my headtorch (Nitecore NC65) and glasses so I don't have to hunt for them when the buzzer goes off. I sleep on my back and don't even notice them.

I have just worn one of those cheap beanie with the built in led light for a week in France . Worked perfectly , especially for the initial panic . Those lights pop out and are rechargable, and I have a spare unit that pops in .

On a bucket with my glasses next to bed. Wore theheadtorch round my neck for years got caught on something and ended up with the head torch pinging into the back of head at high velocity while half asleep dropped glasses carnage and hysterics at the same time. After that i have adopted a safer approach.

Makes sense

For some reason if I sleep with mine on my head or anything with tension I wake up with a really bad headache, so I bought a cheap beanie with a light built in the front to have on while I sleep and hand my head torch on a hook right next to the door so then once the first panic is finished I grab my head torch and swap over.

I have a beanie with built in light which kills two birds with one stone.
I also have my portable LED light to light up the bank if I need it close to hand.
Since I've had the beanie I never use my regular head torch.

Thought a similar myself. I simply overlook it close to my bedchair, Best Headlamps for Hunting consequently get it now.
