I love a wafter, and have used UB for the last few seasons and done really well on the ting tong.
After another preferably smaller bait company that also makes wafters?
Seen proper job and specialised recommended as a replacement but neither seem to do wafters only pop ups.
Also, anyone know what the ting tong is / was and anything that may be similar?
Thanks

Drop me a pm if you're after some ting tong popups, I know someone with the recipe (or as close as damn it) that rolls them.

Thanks, specialised seem to only do the s2 or garlic in wafter / balanced baits. Have you used either?
May pop them a message to see if they do any others 👍🏽

Now that UB Baits is no longer I am sure Ryan won't mind me putting up the Ting Tong recipe. I put this together originally after talking to Ting Tong about all things flavour related, by his own admission Iain wasn't a bait person at all but he had picked up on a flavour combination that the Northern mere lads were using.
The original was banana, scopex and pineapple. Equal measures of each. I used to make up 90ml of mixed flavour using 30ml of each. I didn't put any n butryric in the original recipe.
Basemix wise, I used a mix consisting of 1/3 milk protein mix and 2/3 50/50 mix, once this was mixed up I added albumin at 5% so 50g a kilo. This mix was then combined with a decent airball mix in a ratio of 2 parts basemix and 1 part airball mix. You need to test out ratios a bit but that's a good starting point - don't weigh the parts, use a cup or something similar as this is by volume. That will give you a decent wafter.
all you do then is use the mixed flavour at 5ml an egg and roll as usual - one thing the nice soft yellow colour comes from mainline's yellow colour (non fluro!!) and you don't need much. Once the baits are really dry put a couple of ml of flavour over the dried baits and let them soak it in, job done.
The pop ups used exactly the same flavour profile.

Interesting there is a flavour house that does a banana solely based on oils with added cream enhancers, smells and tastes divine with a built in sweetener so I ordered some with my usual bits ( full on foods company ) and I used it to make an absolute beast of an ice cream.
Not related but who doesn't like to think about ice cream lol

Hello Matt,
Are UB baits no longer? Ryan still has a web page selling stock albeit some sizes are not listed? I use to use his Hydra K bobbers in the small sizes for solid bag fishing so would be disappointed if they had stopped trading?

I received a message from him yesterday he said he was taking a break from the bait making as his other job is manic at the moment
Said he would let me know if his situation changed
So sounds like he is keeping his options open

In which case, if he purchased UB and the recipes, it might be wise to remove the post if thats become ryans property...
He may have tweaked it though. and its certainly vague i.e doesn't say which flavour's or base-mix ingredients, you could mimic though instructions and have a totally different bait

I'm unfamiliar with both baits but just recalled reading it somewhere. Duff info then.

Could try Mark Dean's Koda pops. He doesn't have a web page you'll find him on Instagram. He does bespoke baits.

I know Matt, it was Nutrabaits flavours i seem to recall you used? I was just pointing out that two of the three 'flavour names' had previously been used together very successfully by Martin, that's all.

Aaaah ok thanks.
I started using all nutrabaits, to very good effect, then I kept using the nutrabaits banana and pineapple with Geoff Bowers then in house scopex and finally I switched everything to John Bakers pineapple and banana and his toppex. Probably the nutrabaits originals were the best to be honest.

Bit late now maybe but a hack that I do is.. wrap my pop ups in tights and burn the end. This does a few things imo, when they expand in the water the tights hold them in tact so small fish can't nibble off the paste when it goes soft and also once used you can hang the used Baits up to dry out, they then shrink back to the original size to be reused. I spray a bit of ting tong over them to top up the flavour. Iv caught doing this so definitely does not effect them. Especially when using say 3 on an overnighter you soon get through them if you throw them away each time
