Would have to be the Woolpack for me. Theres just something about them old intimate weedy gravel pits with there stock of old withered finned small rounded tales commons and mirrors that does it for me.
But then again I wouldn't mind twenty four hours on holme fen, given a chance..

Funny enough i used to get the train with hilda every morning in southport before i could drive , she was extremely posh and very nice.

Not on your list, but an album full of Savay carp would do me.

I was lucky enough to fish a lake which has Leney originals in it. Big plated chestnut linears of which there is some documentary evidence were removed from Redmire by Eddie Price in the 50's. I have seen the written account from Eddie held by Chris Ball.

I've had fish from Redmire also and all these fish ticked the box both in looks and history. They looked the dogs danglies.

I don't think I'll ever get a nicer fish with history like these so I'm happy with my lot 👍

Taverham Mills had some Leney fish in, bought by Dave Plummer when the Redmire fish had a very successful spawning year.
I have a picture of a cracking looking fully scaled, I caught from there, albeit only double figures, but beautiful. Another Redmire strain fish I caught was Finleys Linear, a dark linear with a very low dorsal fin, like it was a gene freak, not damaged by angling.
Even most of the commons were properly proportioned, not fat, but long and built.

Virginia lake on Earith Carp lakes also had some beautiful fish, again woodcarving commons, and scaly mirrors.
I also had some decent fully scaleds in the 20's from Ardleigh reservoir, along with a real angry proper grey leather.

One of my favourite looking fish actually came from the River Gipping, a chocolate brown, red and orange fish that weighed 28lb, I still class it a pb, even though I have caught larger.

I don't know the strains of carp to much , but some of my best looking have been the small ones, every one nice, first time I fished horseshoe had some fullys, blew my mind, I do like the unknown though, ive caught a few ugly ones in my time
