Just in the market for some new lead putty,used kryston for a few years now but just wondered if there are new ones out there that are good.the kryston can be hard work in the wet or cold

I've tried a few brands of putty over the years most have not measured up to what I was looking for, a putty that is heavy, easy to use, sticks to the hook length and stays put and at the same time doesn't stick to everything else.
Last month my local tackle dealer recommended the putty from Carp Spirit so I bought some. I have to say he was right their putty is the best I've ever used. So much so I went back and bought some more.

Second the ESP stuff.
Don't think anything will be on the same level as the original kryston putty but the ESP is better than a majority out there.

I like the bank tackle stuff. Its the only one that ive had that hasnt come off yet, even when smear, or stick tiny amounts to the side of a tungston sinker.

I've always gotten on well with the thinking anglers stuff, shame it's a pathetic quantity each time though

I rate the Nash Putty, struggle to find one that's better.
For me, given it's used in the most important area, saving a few £ for a sub-standard product isn't the one

From the fact pretty much everyone has recomended a different putty so far 
we have probably got to a point with putty technology that they are all either the same putty rebranded, or just all very similar.

Used to rate heavy metal but heard it went down hill. I'm not a Korda knocker but the dark matter is horse poo, easy to use but literally slips and slides and falls off! I ended up getting one of those cheaper tackles stuff like ‘bank tackle, mosquito' can't remember the exact one, but get more for your money. Harder to work with to get pliable but stays on which is the main thing for me

Yes, he said the German company that now own kryston are now making it to the original recipe. The previous owners messed it up and then passed on an incorrect recipe.

Kryston is still the best iceberg used it for 30 years when they changed hands I worried and purchased several alternative only to be disappointed purchased some more Kryston then stocked up with it and gave the rest away.

For many years used heavy metal as there was very little alternatives. Then started using the Korda one but it comes off very easily especially in weed. Then i tried the Nash cling on, brilliant stuff just stays on even dragging in a huge ball of weed. Best by far and not often ii say that about Nash.

Another vote for the nash from me!
Got 3 tubs in my tackle box, Korda ( doesn't stay on) esp ( seems a bit like chewing gum) and then tried the nash cling on and I will now be binning the rest as nash is the far superior putty IMO

Yes it is sticky to the point where it can cause tangles. They where all crap having used Kryston for 30 years I'm obviously biased and it's still the best

If you leave putty on your made up rigs it will eventually become a sticky mess whatever the brand.
That's why they give you an airtight tub with paper or plastic around it to keep it dry stored.
I've still got some kryston heavy metal from the 90s the white tub with the green writing on and it's not changed one bit compared to a new tub I have.
Probably the densest though you really do have to knead it as it's quite firm - hard work in the colder months

Never had an issue with the heavy metal leaving it on my rigs in my rig board, had some really old ones with the putty on and its never became sticky or stuck to the board.

What putty are people using now?. Nash seems discontinued/ops everywhere.. in fact TFT only have a couple in stock. Maybe try bank tackle, any users?

I've tried most in the last year or so and Thinking Anglers and Atomic are the best out there right now. They are very similar.
I was using the OMC (was the best) until I tried the above.

Finally ran out of my favoured Nash Putty! And it's out of stock pretty much nationwide it seems.
In the interest of science, I had to buy a couple of alternatives to try. Would have naturally tried the ESP as their other Tungsten type products are pretty damn good - but also out of stock (maybe that's a positive sign?). nb I would never buy anything from 'Atomic' again.
Went for both the Thinking Anglers and the Gardner Critical Mass, as that's all my local tackle shop had in. Strictly, that's not true... They had the Korda one, but it's like tits on a fish... Absolutely blinking useless and about as adhesive as ice - if you've used it, you'll know the score.
Anyway..
Both were circa £8 a pot. Interesting though is the difference in size Vs price.

Will give them a whirl at the weekend and see how they compare to the Nash.

Cant see past kryston heavy metal, can't really compare it against other brands as never felt any reason to change.

Nash cling on best putty ive ever used in 47 years carp fishing. I don't use any other nash
gear and never have but their putty is the best one.
