Looking for some feedback from people who own a set of these rods, I am looking at getting some 12ft 3.25 not a lot of reviews on line

Will cover most situations, will cast a long way in capable hands, but definitely not an all out casting rod. Not a small water rod either, but ok if your careful. Not liking mine v much tbh, too stiff and unresponsive for me, but for sure others really rate them.
IMHO the 12ft 6in te is a far nicer rod.

Stood test of time and perfect all round fishing rods for me.
Fishing small snaggy waters to big reservoirs they fit the bill!

I've got the Torrix in 3lb, lovely all rounder for most waters. They can cast a PVA bag, will do 100yds no probs with just a baited rig, good for playing fish on, quality blank 👍

Thanks for the replies
I fish mixed venues so want something that will be a good around rod, what are they like for playing fish close in?
I have another set of rods for small waters but for the price I am hoping to be able to use the torrix as much as i can

I think the 3lb tc torrix is a far better all round rod than the 3.25 , and a much nicer rod to play fish on as well

3.25 are too soft for me I use a century SP for everything I do I just prefer a more powerful rod

I invested in a pair of 10' Harrison torrix custom corks for the canal,ideal for me as I mostly fish canals April to September then lakes onwards but not massive lakes.
And second time I used them threaded everything back through and went to lead around the lake and I snapped the top section clean,must have been a fault and I got in touch with tackle box and they sent a tube to put rod in and then a courier and replaced it.
Great service from a fantastic tackle company.

I've been using the Torrix range for a few years now, all made by Vic Gibson. Have in my collection 2.75, 3.00, 3.25tc along with a set of TEs and 2 x 10ft stalker rods.
For me anything under 100 yards the 3lb handle great in-cast and playing fish under the rod tip and is my go to rod when I don't need the distance.
The 3.25 have pretty much the same feel when under the tip but will get you out to 130-140 yards on a good cast and is a rod I use alot for PVA bag fishing.
Not used the TEs that much as purchased them for a few big lakes but never ended up fishing them, used them in France and Germany and managed 160 yards all week without any hassle.
If I was to just have one set I think it would be the 3.25tc, as an all rounder it hard to beat for everything I do but then it's going to depend on our style and lakes you fish.

The 12ft 3.25tc and 12ft6inch te to me are chalk and cheese with the 12ft6inch te being a far nicer rod to both cast and play fish but the 12ft 2.25tc is a superb small water rod and probably the best of the torrix range.

Personally never saw why people rated them so much. Brought some and they were too stiff in my opinion for an all rounder. Soon sold them and got some 3.5 hi-s thought they were much nicer.

They really are a nice playing rod with a good through action. My first set in cork are now about 8 years old and are still in great condition. My maximum chuck is about 125 yards and they do that comfortably, in better hands, probably 150 plus, but I do think the blank is a bit of an all rounder.
I don't think you'd be disappointed one bit.

Agree it's bizzare are these people beginers or something is it because they really do not know what they are talking about ?Had the 12.6 torrix te,s after listening to what turned out to be bad advice they were awfull for playing fish they are broom handles and probably more of a light sea fishing estuary rod .They are not a fishing rod but a casting one and most people fish well short of what you need these rods for .I sold mine within 2 weeks great under the tip has to be one of the biggest lies you hear in carp fishing .One of the funniest site you will see is a set of these sat on a big europod on a acre pond seen it loads of times but suppose you have to follow the sheep

I have had 3 sets of the Torrix TE over the years. Great rods Think they might discontinue the blanks as better blanks are available so best be quick getting a set

If he wants a set of Torrix and has made is mind up to have them then I am saying get a set before they are not available. Your getting other rods coming out such as the avatar which seem to have took over from the Torrix Like me some might like a particular rod and just get new ones rather than change

I always find the 'is a rod nice to play fish on?' discussion rather bizzare. I can't see that the majority of the high TC rods mentioned as being good under the tip would be in my opinion.
I suppose it is all subjective to what you've used previously or started carp fishing with - if you used century focal systems previous maybe torix are nice....
Personally I feel my century C2s and NGs in 2.75lb TC are overkill for anything under 25lb....

Point taken. I was under the impression that the aviators had already superseded the torrix in the higher test curves.

When it comes down to it, it only really matters what the user of the rod thinks. Some people feel more comfortable bringing a fish in on a stiff rod, others like a bendy one.
Surely a ‘players rod' is relative to how the angler wants to play the fish, people get way too caught up in all the b*ll**** of owning tackle.

Obviously they aren't a through action ‘players rod', they are a casting rod at the end of the day but they are a very good compromise if you don't own 4 sets of rods, ‘broom handles' they definitely ain't though

I suppose a bench mark does help those with no experince of the rods though, but how to get a unbias bm..hmm.
I like a stiffer rod, always have since fishing snaggy waters and feeling under gunned with the rods I had, there's little in the way of control (for me) with a rod bent in 2. I have the 13' 3.25 Torrix, it's a lovely rod, my only critique is it feels a little heavy compared to my 3.5lb 12'6 Ballistas, though I haven't weighed them, it's a perception.
I wouldn't call the 3.25lb a players rod, I wouldn't call it a distance rod, for me it's a compromise between the 2 and that's why I like it. I also have 12' 1.25lb and 2lb, now they are lovely

I have the TE's after speaking with Terry before I purchased them, he said they added the extra 6" to help soften the tip and give a slightly softer action when playing a fish, but stiff have the back bone for casting.
When I first got them it did take me a while to get used to them and I did loose fish close into the margins.... I had to adapt the way I played fish in close and since then had no issues. They cast great just difficult with light leads at short distances to get eye in.

Have a look at the Cotswold Rods R1. Believe they are based on a Torrix. Superb rods and all I use now.

The Cotswold xx111 was based on the torrix blank , which Harrison later called the torrix sport. And had a plain carbon butt section. Lovely rods that were very different to the 3.25 torrix. And a much nicer rod to play fish on but could still send out a 3oz lead. Wish I hadn't moved mine on

I have the R1's and they are not the same blank.
I went over to Cotswold Rods to try a Torrix in 3.25TC and ended up with a set of R1's as the Torrix was too soft for my requirements.

I have the 3 1/4 Torrix which does the job well enough. My 2.5lb Torrix are lovely and light and have just enough power in the butt the stay in control of fish it their 30s.
Both my pairs are a few years old now and I love the 2.5s and wouldn't hesitate to get another set whereas Id look at harrisons newer range or alternatives and I'd Definately go to a rod builder such as Cotwold Rods and try a few before I shelled out again.
