As an antidote to the negative threads that can give the impression that everyone's out to rip us off, how about a list of brands that inspire confidence?
I'll kick things off with Gardner, one of the first firms making specific carp gear - I remember happily binning my collection of welding rods / knitting needles etc when they produced their first monkey climbers in the 80s, and I've yet to buy one of their products and be disappointed.
Lets hope we get a decent list of manufacturers who can be relied upon to sell good gear...

I use rigmarole hook lengths and leaders almost exclusively.

Drennan_ESP for me too,their stuff just works..E.C.U as well. I'm hoping Jag are the same when I fire a big bag of cash at them soon.

I was.going to start a positive fishing tackle thread. Seems like I've been beaten to it 
As for decent tackle, it's all a minefield. It's a case of learning hard lessons. People bang on about a certain company, I'll use said companies year and have a nightmare.

Defiant tackle is very good
Dymag stuff is exceptional
ESP is really good

Definitely ESP in first place, then Gardner for me - still using a 35 year old Gardner landing net, the one with the brown handle. Fox alarms worth a mention.

I actually don't think you can knock Korda for their terminal tackle.
Always bought stuff from ESP, also recently been buying Thinking Anglers luggage as the quality seems better than the mainstream brands.

The Korda Chod Line Saver Beads definitely shred fluoro. Thought it must have been a bad batch, then I thought it must be the line needs wetting before moving the bead. Nope, they shred it all the same. Must be the tungsten. Never fails to amaze me how companies can miss something so obvious in testing.

Yeah Chubs certainly got to be up there along with drennan/esp. faultless. Kryston, been around since day blot. Would swear by free spirit too

I think you'll be impressed Braders. At first it was a bit too firm for me, I've had it over a season now and it's brilliant. Best money I've spent on a bedchair, and I am fussy bugger

30lb Seagur Ace Hard. Had it on two different spools.
It roughs it up without fail.
The Korda naked chod safety system beads are fine, presumbaly cos they don't contain tungsten?

Been using these and similar for years on fluoro, mono and braid. Never looked through a microscope but never shredded any line either? More than happy to use Korda end tackle, likewise Nash, ESP Gardner etc.

Cotswold Aquarius for luggage. Been through hell and back and with a clean still looks as good as the day I bought it.
Never had an issue with any of my Harrison rods.
Solar for my pod and bedchair. Pod has been going strong for last five years and can guarantee that it will still be going for years to come. Only downside is it's weight.

Love the Chris Brown pod, it's top draw, and only just shy of £130. The only thing I'd wish they'd do is put some nicer thumb screws on the banksticks.
