I've been off the mono over a year, the get pro distance is catching me fish and I like it but it is seriously twisted and kinked, time to replace...

Definitely upped my catch rate during the day on pro distance instead of cm90 dunno if its the colour? Want something supple like cm90 tho. Was thinking maybe esp synchro xt loaded. Fishing close on intimate waters, so need a gd sinking line.

I have Berkley CM70 in 17lb and CM90 in 19lb both very good lines imo

yea I used cm90 for 2 years, lovely behaved line but I'm sure the most see through type coloured lines get you more day time bites.
It might be time to try pb control in 24lb.. I've threatened it a few times.

Korda subline is good, v supple and made to sink.
The ridge monkey line isn't bad either. Even the .42 18lb line is extremely supple and its priced well which is refreshing from RM.
Have you tried a twistbuster to remove the twist? They work well.

I find any line gets bits stuck to it in the water and becomes visible - I use cm90 as I like the way it behaves and sinks.

I moved to Berkley CM90 this year after reading good reviews on here.
So far so good. Not had any wind knots or other issues yet.
Also read good things about esp synco loaded. Might give that a bash next year!!

For all my edge fishing for a while now it's been Gardner Pro Light Blend, generally only fish a maximum of 9ft out and have had no issues regarding fish and line, from very clear water to murky tea coloured it just keeps working.
If it's pretty clear of obstructions then the 12lb is lovely, this year had to step up to 15lb xm because of zebra mussels, it's quite wiry but is very tough.
A no nonsense line at the cheaper end of the scale, a spin doctor every so often keeps it in check.

If you go for the Synchro get the standard version, not the Loaded. It's mile better.
It sounds to me like you need a good reliable all-rounder. Hydro Tuff in the lower BS's is excellent but it might be worth checking out the bog standard Gardner Pro - it's a brilliant line.

Yes Gardner pro is a nice line I have used that in the past..
I think this is going to be between hydrotuff and pb control.
I have a minimum 15lb rule on syndicate although I know the 12 would be fine. It is 0.35 so same as the g Pro in 15.
If I went for pb control it would be 24lb version.

I'm a massive fan of the Tuff, use it in 12, 15 and 20 for different applications.

Recently switched to the technium invisitec in 15lb, was using the black in 12lb but found it difficult to see when wrapping etc. and impossible to see at night! It's a bitch getting old!
So far perfectly happy with the Invisitec, nice and supple and i can see when wrapping...

The loaded is a decent line but it's less supply, takes a set (coiling), and doesn't deal with twist as well as the standard XT imo.
Just doesn't behave as well.

Thanks for that Yonny., I have to admit that I don't cast it as I drop the rigs from a rowing boat, but will be interested to see how it performs over time - not hat I catch anything so it doesn't really matter anyway!

I switched over this year from the loaded to the normal XT on the back of that thread, and whilst only used for one session I am almost converted. It did bed onto the reel easier and as Yonny pointed out, didn't coil as much therefore for me is a much more versatile line. I fished in close and had a brutal close quarters battle with a large common through weed and snags and the line stood up perfectly coming out of it virtually unscathed which amazed me. I had no issues with the Loaded version but initial impressions are the normal XT is a better all rounder

I used and loved Technium Black in 12lb and 15lb, but due to difficulty bin finding it I have moved the CM90. Seems good but still prefer the Technium.
Loaded RM 15lb in clear on spare spools but not used it yet.

I've been using techium black/invistitec for the last few years and see no reason to try anything else. Have never noticed it to be a great hindrance casting, behaves well and seems to have the best abrasion resistance of any mono I've used

I very rarely use it naked. My preference if rules allow os to use with a leadcore leader on a helicopter setup but I will use lead clips with tubing otherwise. I occasionally use it naked with a running lead setup using the Enterprise safety run rings

I rate CM90, it casts really well. It's the colour that has always worried me a little but I have done well on it.

Just started using the syncro xt and seems to be ok, I've had 11 fish on it and did loose one to a snap off, rubbed against a root on a island, pretty sure the technium would have handled it better, Also it states 0.037 but feels thinner to me. but seems like a ok line. Think when I next re spool it'll be technium again. You really can't beat it

I tried it for a period a while ago, alongside ProGold and Touchdown.
ProGold had the least stretch, CM90 had the most.
Touchdown was in the middle somewhat.
I woudn't call CM90 low stretch but's it's pretty good compared to most monos.
CM90 and Touchdown were more supple (relatively! it's mono afterall) , Progold more wirey.
Progold sunk the best., and the toughest.
I saw Subgold mentioned in thisthread.

The trouble with these line threads is you get people recommend a line, yet they haven't compared it to anything else, and they assume it has the best properties 'cause it feels to them.
Quite frankly most of the line threads on this forum are a complete waste of time.
You just get people recommending what they use and they have no idea of the properties of what they are using.
You have to compare a few before you post and note it.

Anybody knows what's going on with technium line ? Can't get hold of it anywhere and really need some 12lb to respool :( going to have to try something else I think.

I want a bit of a workhorse line, don't need to cast too far, needs to be tough, and not get all twisted up so hydro tuff 15lb fits the bill.. arrived today, looks nice off the spool. What reminded me of this line was fishing with my father in law last weekend and I was helping him out as he doesn't fish that often.
I was really impressed with the line he was using and had to try to remember what it was as I recommended it to him about 2 years ago out of what they had in the tackle shop (he hasn't been fishing for a long time)

Interesting about the CM90, I'm on the Trent which is low and clear and I can't buy a bite in the daytime, not a single one in 9 days this season. I had 20-odd fish last weekend (Barbel, Bream, Chub and Carp) and every one was between 9pm and 5am.
I've got Korda contour fluorocarbon on a spool now and I'm going to give that a try on one rod for the foreseeable future and see how it goes. Of course, it could just be that they're not confident feeding in the daytime due to the clear water, but the odd one has been coming out to others.
I do really like the CM90 though. It's rocky as hell where I'm fishing and I can literally feel the line grating when I'm playing fish, only once has the line been damaged and even then it didn't break.
