its a sad loss that went as it had every northern water on it,and its info etc ,but my god did it also have some tools on it, as well as some sound people

Don't think that's possible. Iirc when Bernie L and a few others had accounts "deactivated" every post they'd ever written were deleted. Photos, stories everything. Carnage and never recovered. Selman still keeps the FW going thankfully

So much great stuff and the documentation of history of the cheshire waters was lost.
Mr L and his many persona had the mod team on the verge of suicude watch.

The Rocksavage stuff was incredible....lol
Unfortunately some of the NW history water stuff is completely irreplaceable. Proper old skool anglers putting pictures of bygone captures up were unprecedented anywhere.
Proper Secret squirrel photos going up which was the foundation of the site to people in the NW and why they contributed so freely..
That NW history section was insane and will never be repeated...

I had sent JG many messages asking to bring it back while the forum was still recoverable but he didnt have any interest. I had also messaged a few of the mods and they were in the dark, they would have been happy to keep it going but never got that option.
A very sad loss.

I think Bernie turned his brain to mush by the end of it all. Bloke (was it Julian?) just seemed to lose all interest in it.

I think the last time it went belly up they lost absolutely everything all the archives that were left went with a server crash.
Was a great website and always a laugh with some of the windups.

Agreed, pretty awesome, many people that I fished with many moons ago collaberated to make it the most informative, cloak and dagger and hilarious carp website around. Shame Julian allowed it all to come to an end!

I was on the forum, miss it too, secrets yes but openness too.
There is a Northern Chat in the Fish ins section on here, quite a few x members on there.

Was on the forum for years , some good lads on there , some knobheads as is on every forum , great threads re cheshire waters and some excellent historic photos.

we were offered the chance to keep it going dave. julian offered the mod team the site, all we had to do was get a server up and running and he was prepared to transfer everything over. the site was pulling in a few k in advertising revenue too although it had taken a hit when ebay changed their 30 day cookie policy to 'same day', that hit the sites revenue pretty hard which I guess is why jules lost interest and moved on?.
anyway, none of us wanted to take it on, it was supposed to be given to us jointly and we shared the revenue but where you have money involved there is always trouble. it wasn't trouble with the mods arguing over it, it was getting someone to actually take it on. we were all happy just reading the forum and doing the odd bit of trimming and pruning of posts here and there and we all regarded it as a headache we didn't want, so it ran until it crashed again and that was the end.

The northern monkeys was a great site. It was Richard Seal who contacted Julian re- the old skool section, anglers who would never dream of posting pics came forward, and I know many low profile top anglers registered just read that section. As someone has said, that content could never be repeated even in a book.
I remember spending 3 hrs walking the rocksavage/frodsham section of la weaver, looking for 60 days and nights worth of wear, even though I knew it was bull ****, I like to be armed before going into battle😂...... finding lathems gear in the out of bounds on petty which lead to a **** storm.
A lot of help and good info got posted on there, made some good friends via that site.

I remember the pictures of the tree cover and backgrounds that you posted (or maybe Stez) to compare and disprove there was anything like that on that section of the weaver
Then someone found the pictures in a french lakes website, they were bang to rights busted.
