Have a new bait idea (38 posts / 5,605 views)

I have a bait idea that could possibly change a small part of the bait industry. It's quite an obvious one so I'm assuming all companies will incorporate this change at some point .

My question is what do I do with this idea,.... It won't cost a lot of money just a little time for RAD.
Impossible to pattern.

Thanks

If it's inventive enough patent it.

If you can't patent keep it secret until you have made the full range you plan to sell and can launch it all. Spend lots on advertising so it will be obvious to all that you was first.

It needs to be implemented by an established bait company, I'm guessing as soon as others see it they'll make the change also. As I said it needs a little RnD first . This isn't my industry so it doesn't make business sense in me doing this for others to copy.
It's not the new wonder bait or anything like that, just don't know what to do with the idea.

Just email one of the bigger established manufacturers or even the one you use now.
Without going into specifics ask them the question like has anything like.... been done before.
It all depends on what you want out of it

I had thought about contacting the bigger bait suppliers directly.

I had a similar eureka moment last year, I was using paste as a hook bait but struggled to bait up at any distance, so I rolled them up into balls about 1/2 inch, and put them in boiling water for 2 mins.

I was gonna market them as boil me ups but never got round to it

Have a chat with Geoff at Absolute Bait Solution's (ABS) he has more knowledge than the majority of bait companies and he is truly is a top bloke.

If you don't want to make profit, just publish your idea.
If you want to gain something from it, you should patent it.

Dont realy understand what you want from it... Make money? Get recognition? If nothing than spill the beans or dont tell anyone... Your choice... Just hope it is not heated blanket for baits...

Thanks for the suggestions. I've sent an email to two companies.
I had thought about contacting Geoff and Paul at ABS.

Certainly not in it for recognition I'd be a fool if I said money isn't a factor.

Again thanks.

I have another idea 😊, Can someone make a hard case for Nevilles,.. Atts, fox, Delkims have them why not Nevs, ... Just a plastic mould .

Good luck with the idea. I've always thought that boilies and all their variations have been done to death but fair play if you think you might have come up with a new idea fella

Thanks mate, my idea isn't a new boilie or a new flavour or ingredient. I told two close friends my idea recently and they encourage me to pursue this. But I know what you mean.

Another great idea from the past, canned boilies, boiled in the can with some tasty liquid. Believe it was baittec, not sure. But the execution was poor, the boilies kinda exploded in the can, and were only useful for pen fishing, side hooking, stuff like that.

Similar to Neil, around 1990 I used to mix CLO with Marvel milk powder & water, absolutely lovely smell and good for a few hours on the hair, instant leak off and could be rolled all sorts of shapes & sizes.

Nice ideas I like them. Having grasped the basics of bait making there are ways to change the base mixes to control breakdown times

Replace half eggs with hydros, so easier leakage and more goodies to pump out.
