I see Wychwood are launching a Tactical Brolly and Bivvy.
I don't suppose anyone saw the brolly at the Northern Angling show? Looks Awesome but not sure about the height. I've seen the video for it but it looks a bit lower then what they have said the height is, I could be wrong.

No worries mate, I agree does look a bit odd lol but then again I've seen loads of customised brollies and bivvies where people have a mix so I guess there is a market for it. Really like the wide doors though, perfect for getting my fat bum through lol

Quite like the look of them, each to their own I guess.
The other weird thing is they don't mention the depth of the Bivvy only the height and width.
Either the fella in the video is the size of Tyson Fury or it's door height will e that of the Titan Hide which would be a real shame for people over 5ft7

Width 2500mm = 98.4252 inches
Depth 1690mm = 66.5354331 inches
so by those measurements it seems to me the standard mk 2 brolly is 60" and the Tactical would be 55"

Think I said on another thread, I saw this at the big one in stonleigh. I thought it was very well put together tbh and looked alright. I'm not a massive fan of the combo materials but it's not too weird to look at tbh. The one I saw set up was set very low so not much room between bedchair and centre boss. It put me off somewhat but I think not set ultra low it wouldn't be any more of an issue it is in other brollies.

and they told me they have a confirmed delivery shipment for the 11th September so should be in the dealers within 14 days

But I have sold my 50" mhr and pre ordered one so when it eventually arrives I will let you know mate I know its a bit low but its a 55" and will give me a bit more cover its a different design being 7 rib and apparently the bed can go right back as its flatter

That is very true Gerry but that's also the reason I sold it as my head was touching the roof whilst sat on my bedchair.
The photos on the review make it look like the inner spokes that connect to the central boss would also be in the way.

Tim I am buying this because I now fish 90% of the time down the river I went Barbel fishing a week ago I fished from around 1630 until 03.00 catching 15 Barbel and a chub losing 4 barbel and 4 times I had a double hook up
I was totally exhausted despite the fish still feeding I just had to reel the rods in and sleep
I normally sit on my rods on a chair............... and with a small brolly if it rains recasting every 20 to 40 mins
hopefully the Wychwood Tactical brolly will give me shelter I need for a good nights sleep and stand up to the very fierce winds you get up on the Mighty Trent

Not saying your wrong but I have the wychwood tactical bivvy and it has four way zips to remove the mozzy panel door to put the clear infill in which I have done this goes letterbox style so it should be the same principle with the brolly for changing the door panel.

The infill front has a solid door and cannot be used letter box as advertised it can be set up as.....I've emailed wychwood to explain why this is so......nothing back yet. Bought the brolly / front on the basis of what was advertised so not especially over the moon with it

Wychwood have replied back to me and confirmed a number of the brolly fronts had gone out with the flaw in the design....lack of letter box ability. To their credit they will be sending out the correct one out to me as soon as they arrive....and I can keep the faulty one. Can't be fairer than that....
Sounds like a batch has gone out to various stores so might be worthwhile if your purchasing the brolly and extras to ask the store to check the front for this.

Did you contact Wychwood direct or where you purchased it from, long story short I ordered all mine from Fishing tackle and bait yesterday TBF to them I received a phonecall from them within minutes to say they had the Brolly and grounsheet in stock but no infill panel or doors they said they had oversold those items and didn't have stock so did I still want the brolly and groundsheet and they would refund me the outstanding which I agreed and they have, I think they have already clocked this issue possibly someone local had bought one and returned it probably.
So anyway straight on ebay found an infill and clear door at Ludlow tackle ordered it and it's just turned up, aside from the Wychwood label cable tied to the infill panel saying letterbox style door it isn't.

Did it yesterday afternoon, they emailed back within the hour saying they have some on order and will be delivered by air freight approximately a month (we will see) but in the meantime I have an infill panel so they said although not ideal to keep it and they will send a new one as soon as they arrive, cannot fault their speedy reply better than I have ever had with many other fishing brands.

on the 2 ribs at the front supports the little peak bit and it can only go round one way though bit hard to get on the first time
it took me a while to figure out lol

Loved it. I had it on its lowest pegging points and could comfortably sit on my bed, probably could have got my bed buddy chair in there as well, would have easily fitted on the higher pegging points.

Its a doorway support bar
If you sit on your bed the door way has 3 ribs the bar hooks over the left and right doorway ribs the centre doorway has a clip that clips over the centre of the doorway support bar if you still don't get iter me know and will take some pictures and post when I get home mate

If you sit on your bed the door way has 3 ribs the bar hooks over the left and right doorway ribs the centre doorway has a clip that clips over the centre of the doorway support bar if you still don't get iter me know and will take some pictures and post when I get home mate

Just did a 48 hour on the sloping bank of the River Trent had 2 hours of torrential rain so good test it passed with flying colours

Totally agree with your review, used mine for the first time few weekends ago and can't fault it. Plenty of room, not too low and keep me nice and dry.
Haven't tried the fronts yet but they look good too.

I got myself one of the brollies. Pretty annoying not able to use it as a letter box door. I had ordered one of these zip repair kits to try something on my tempest. Fitted it to the Wychwood brolly an now have a letter box door.
Works very well, not as good if it had been factory fitted but happy with the result.

And apparently its not Wychwoods fault the chinese factory cocked up and whywood have said anyone thats purchased the front can keep it and as soon as the new fronts are ready about a months time they will send you the new one out they have been withdrawn from sale as soon as it was realised they had been made wrong

as it was way later than planned due to covid in Feb they said in the early spring but then Covid happened the dates changed to July that came they said August that came (China were late) then it finally arrived in Sept and think they rushed them out as people like me that had pre paid were screaming at them

I got set up just before dark then it started lightly raining, within half hour I noticed wet patches on my bed cover, the rain got harder and the dripping got worse as I watched the wet patches merge into one massive patch leaving my bed cover a soggy mess, thankfully it didn't go through. It persisted down for a couple of hours and everything under the brolly was getting wet, I had to try and push it all under the bed.
Water was dripping from all the velcro sections that hold the material to the ribs, from every one of those plastic toggles that hold the mesh bags and from the 5 black hooks.
I contacted the ebay seller, the always helpful Neil from Ludlow Tackle, and he is posting another on Monday.
Hopefully the new one will be good and this is a one off problem from Wychwood. Shame because until it rained I really liked it.

I used mine on a 48 hour session the second night a storm it rained ALL NIGHT and for 2 hours between 02.00 and 04.00 it was proper torrential I used the groundsheet so if ANY water had come in
it would be easily seen it was 100% perfect and rock solid in the winds

the only negative point ((for me ))would be its a little lower than the 50" MHR on its highest setting it replaced

The wychwood hd 50 or 60 mk1 was imho apart from the original Aqua was the best brolly ever made why change they had very good material on them if they just put in vents and space saver frame the jrc brolly looks good so does the sonik the new wychwood looks good hope the leaking is a one off

I had used mine twice pre lockdown and on both occasions it rained heavy, one overnight session for 12 hours straight and another overnight session for a couple of hours, never had an issue with any leaks.

I dont ever roll it up I letterbox if rain is driving in otherwise its normally off cant sleep sleep with a door due to claustrophobia same as cant ever have a bag zipped up

depends if you look after your gear but I would be happy for 5 years until this year Wychwood brollys all came with a 5 year warrantee
but their aftersales is one of the best imo
I now know there are a couple of river anglers up north that have them and love them with no issues there were some teething issue initially but wychwood HAS NOW refunded or replaced with the perfect product IMHO

I dislocated my shoulder and ended up on a hospital ward all night putting mine up Thursday - true story.
Its currently up in the garden so hopefully it stretches to make that not an issue going forward!
Nothing against Wychwood though, not their fault i'm weak!

?? It's a brolly ? Maybe you didn't fan it out as it's so easy to put up can't work out how you managed it but bloody hell it must of hurt sounds awful

I looked at one of these and thought it was as low as an Atom.......If your a hobbit great, If not its worth looking at other systems that are higher and better made.......

You are right they are very very low ! But I would NEVER buy a shelter without rear vents

I bought my solar sp brolly from total fishing tackle for £130 but not sure what they sell it for now. Great brolly. Don't let the advertised weight put u off. It's wrong

Yep, it's not like my old Fast and Light which fans out far easier, however the wychwood one seems better made dare I say it. More rigidity, thicker spokes, rear vents etc etc. The additional bar that goes along the peak is a good touch, as are the mesh pockets.
Over time, I think the toggles for the mesh pockets and the clips for the storm poles will be the first to go, but I'm impressed so far. Nice bit of room at the back, but a lack of space at the front to keep a bivvy table under cover without pushing the bedchair right back which may cause condensation issues.
My only other criticisms would be the height and the quality of the storm poles. I think the kid in the factory sneezed when he was doing the spiral points for the storm poles. George Best levels of co-ordination.

We are going to get a LOT of rain this month (i got that info from a SECRET source lol;-)
so this will be a real TEST of the Wychwood Tactical Brolly...do post guys how its coping in the many days of rain.
I can still hold out with my old well-worn Trakker 50 Inch Brolly for another month or so, until i decide...
