What catapult would others recommend
Have busted 2 Kordas
2 sets of elastic
And last night the pouch tore on one about 2 months
I accept things break but it seems to be my Korda catapult is not very robust
Other Korda stuff I've got is pretty good

I have the drennan, I have replaced the elastic a few times over the years (it does dry out) and have sewn the pouch up using dental floss no issues with it since.
Best pult..!! For me its a Drennen original boily pult,they have a new slightly different shape on the frame now..
Use with,Scruffy Bob pouches,now made exactly the same by Army Andy....nothing better out there....!

I'm with the others, the best catty available is the Drennan Boiliepult, but again I do change the pouch.

Just bought a couple of Kodex catapults [ particle ] for use in my floater fishing, haven't used them yet so cannot comment, they will only be used for close / medium range.
As others have suggested the Drennan boilie pult has stood the test of time, I'm not impressed with what's on offer out there, used a Gardener pult last season and it was woeful, needed to have super strength to replace the elastics.

Hi, if you can get the thick bright red Drennan Elastic, used on prev Long Range Ground bait Catty.
Its more powerful than std maroon coloured, thats on Drennan Boilie Pult.

If you need spare elastic get on the bay and look for surgical elastic by the metre. Very cheap.

all of mine used to be like that until last year.
I now have a Korda frame, elastic and pouch, must admit I am not one to praise Korda but the catapult is good.

I heard that the best / cheapest place to buy replacement elastics is eBay but that it is called surgical tubing.
No idea if there are any differences in quality between different sellers.

I used to buy my elastic from here in bulk and a spool would last me years. Usually now, I just get a few yards from Ebay

The handle has no finger grooves or a thumb groove.
When you're applying max. pressure, such a shortfall is a big nono, especially when your hand is soaked in 'bait juice' (for want of a better term
). There is not enough grip \ stability for smooth, max distance release (consistent) .
I realize Anglers are not asking for Black Widows, but a half decent Catapult should have some decent grip on the handle.
I found at full load the ESP was much easier to use (for me). That has fingers and a thumb groove.
Korda either made it on the cheap, or didn't think.
I guess if you're not using wet particles like sweetcorn etc. this might not be an issue.

I have the Korda and it's pants. Still twists and ends up smacking me fingers half the time. The cheap kodex one was better just a shame it wasn't so robust
Drennans caty has its limitations, hand slap and limited range to around 40 yards. Gardner did make a caty knuckle cover but it was pretty crap tbf.
Just took a punt on 10m of surgical elastic for £5 it's 9mm ex and 6mm internal dimensions so a wall of 1.5 similar the the red drennan eleastic.
I'll update you once I've tried it.

Must say I don't get knuckle slap with the Drennan, maybe it is because of how I fire it?
It does get used for various baits, dog biscuits for floater fishing as well as sweetcorn or larger particles and boilies. I reckon I can get boilies to around 50metres, any more than that and I resort to throwing stick anyway.

Only really happens when I'm trying to get the limits of its range, by curling my wrist on release lessens the affect.

Depends what your trying to do? Waters I fish I am looking for pin point accuracy and I'm literally firing out one or two boilies at a time, but I can hit the pop up foam or be dam close at 40m every time. And as for those with the throwing sticks .... Ive got one but when it says use random spread of bait Im very good at that with a throwing stick .... Peeps opposite me are also normally in the line of my Random spread as well!!

Hi there SB yes I've used it now and used a slightly longer then standard length this I think has damped it down a little (not so springy) however I'm pleased with it and getting reasonable distances once the elastics are shorter I think I'll be able to put bait further and expect it to feel close to but possibly not exact. I'm pleased and happy to use it.

I've always found the length of catapult elastics to be trial and error. You'd think the longer the better but shortening by optimum amount is often better. Just wish I could find it without the constant faffing

Strange you say that.
Whenever I put new elastic on my Boiliepult I find the perfect length is after the first snap at the tie wrap at the pouch end.

I've found it reaches an optimum length usually an inch or two off of the original length. I purposely went longer to trial it out, had considered shortening it, haven't found the need to as yet.

Like the OP, my Korda one is on the turn and the elastic is developing cracks after not much use.
Most of my fishing is short to medium range. I have not yet found a pult that lasts!

A Whopper Dropper catapult teamed up with heavy duty elastics, and a medium or X-large scruffy bob pouch from the Tackle box.

That's the key I guess - being able to get hold of replacements without having to shell our for a whole new Catapult.
I bet all the elastics for many different 'Angling Catapults' come from the same place in China.
