Agree with most of that mate and not at all offended by what you've written, I enjoy hearing other people's views on things 👍
The 3rd to last paragraph doesn't ring true with me though. That's a completely different problem. The reason there are fewer and fewer putting into the pot is because (more than ever if you look at the stats) the government want a welfare state. The young'uns (and older dossers) claiming PIP through anxiety etc. can't possibly go into Starbucks to do their shift, let alone a proper job in manufacturing, finance or tech. All the time they are given handouts, why would they work?
Crumbs from the master's table, here you go peasants, here's your money this week, do as government says. 15min cities, tax you by the mile for driving, etc. Control control control.
Talking of business, if government were to be a business they would be bankrupt every week. They have no idea about efficiency or doing things right, and why would they bother, they just raise taxes and we pay for their stupidity.
This goes straight to a single example (6m 30s) of how taxing the rich doesn't work (I'm not rich by the way). The whole podcast is worth watching in my opinion.

@JeffE - That's a shame, they were a decent shop, not that I ever visited but I bought online from them quite a few times over the years.
The reason these shops will be folding will have far more to do with big players coming into the scene - Angling Direct a few years back (although they never have anything in stock when I've looked) and more recently Total Fishing Tackle (didn't they turn over £18million last year?). How can the smaller shops compete?
And with regards to the main manufacturers suffering, some of it is self-inflicted to a degree with their levels of support. Let me just say that Korda have been excellent in this regard, it's rare I ever need to moan about tackle failing, but there have been a couple of things I've needed to email about last year and their replies were fast and very satisfactory.

I’m surprised that no one has mentioned the recent(ish) predominance of Drop Shipping.
For those who don’t know this is the practice of setting up a business in your house supplying all manner of goods - but the seller holds no stock and is probably working from his mums spare bedroom.
The ‘seller’ advertises stock he doesn’t have. So for example in this case x amount of hooks for X price. On places like eBay it is attractive because he has a UK trading address. So you buy from this ‘UK seller’ at his price and he then buys the item off Ali Express, Temu etc, gives your address for delivery and buys the item from said Chinese website, who then use the Chinese Governments discounted free postage and VAT exemption and they are posted direct to you. So after a delayed postage you receive your item with Chinese characters on the envelope straight from the Chinese factory.
So in effect you have bought direct from China, thinking you have bought from a UK seller and he has charged you a markup for a few minutes of his time. He never had the stock I the first place, the fast postage never occurred and you could have saved money by just going onto the Chinese website yourself.
This is very common in the Asian community. This is just an observation not a racist or political statement. Places like Cannock and Birmingham addresses feature heavily in these businesses. Just check out some of the business names to get an idea of their origin. In every suburban estate are back bedrooms with these businesses making money from nothing……and it’s growing.

I saw this post on Craig's fb timeliness, and not sure about it.
The guy claims that Craig is sending the products out, but I'm sure it must be coming from Temu direct.
Also, the guy seems to be a rather keen promoter!
Maybe on the next level discount list, whats next, Temu sponsored anglers 🫣

It’s quite big on eBay now as well
There was a couple of products listed quite near to me and I asked if it was held in the local depot so I could go and pick it up as it was quite an urgent requirement to finish a job I was on and couldn’t be sourced even more local
They did to be fair say they didn’t hold it in stock and said it would be shipped from the manufacturer.
