Hi,

I'm looking for a new set of salopettes and Waterproof jacket for this winter.

I have had my eyes set on the Fortis Tundra range. Before I make the purchase is there anything else that comes close to the Fortis range?

Must be fully waterproof and warm enough for the winter.

Thanks

I have the Trakker TechPro Thermal Jacket plus the matching Bib & Brace. They are absolutely fantastic.

10,000 waterproof rating, lightweight and not bulky at all. They kept me warm in all manner of conditions this past winter. I got them as they were released on pre-order... I think about £250-270 the pair.

I have the vass 175 salopettes and love them. Tough rubberised outer and quilted, not clued up on the jacket that matches but I rarely don’t take them.

Salopettes..... In terms of insulation/warmth, you'll struggle to match the Tundras unless you go Sungpak, but the Snuggy salopettes aint waterproof. Hence, stick with the Tundras imo.

Jacket wise you have the Snugpak Torrent or Torrent Extreme that can match the Tundra. The standard Torrent is cheaper, with the Extreme a bit more expensive. I went with the Extreme but now wish I'd got the standard. The Extreme is too warm for autumn and early spring imo.

It really depends on your style of fishing, but i've never liked thermal and waterproof in a single jacket/sallopettes, especially if in and out of a shelter in the colder months. I like to be able to take off the wet layers, hang them up and keep the thermal stuff on.

I did have the Tundra salopettes, but found them quite bulky and even though i'm not that tall (6ft), size large felt like they were strangling the undercarriage too much. They are very warm though, you certainly wouldn't want to put them on then barrow your kit to a swim.

best ive had is a set of deerhunter mufflon bib/brace and long jacket (7 yrs old now)
Defo worth having a look on john norris, or a phone call to see what a shooting / hunting shop recommends
