Just saw it in midlands today a 67lb goldfish(they say) it's a mix of koi and mirror carp,caught in France by a westmidlands guy.

Yep, read that too, stunning fish 
I caught a orange/white upper 20 koi probably 20 years ago now, I still remember it now as vividly as it was coloured. I think they're a bit special, I don't remember any as much as that one.
There was a Korda vid a while ago with a black/orange Carp, think it was one of the European circuit waters, I'd love to catch that fish.

I wouldn't want to catch it but if I did I would appreciate the comedy value!

The guy was decidedly honest as describing it as “lucky”. He's a ‘normal' bog standard angler doing what we all do. As far as I know, not sponsored, not plugging products etc.
It was a catch of merit of a fish which has grown on to such a size over the years.
It's a lovely fish in it's own right.

Fair play to him on his capture, whilst its unusual in colour and a 30 kilo fish is not to be sniffed at ornamental's dont do it for me, I've caught a few over the years nowhere near as big as this up to just over 20lb, Butterfly koi, ghost koi and ornamental koi I'd rather a Carp.
Years ago someone released two Koi's into a pond I leased it was probably people who lived local that walked the public access paths near to the lake they were mid doubles and probably got to big for their pond, by the end of the following summer the margins looked like a pinata of two inch koi crosses swimming around in large shoal's.

Must admit not for me.
I don't like catching koi, just 'plain ordinary' carp for me.
I have caught a few ghostie koi crosses and to be honest they just don't float my boat. I don't target them intentionally.

I can't see a problem with them as long as the outcome to breeding koi with carpio only produces subtle changes in the carp, white white fin tips, etc. The genetic modifications are already pretty apparent. I wouldn't be surprised to see black koi (Mogoi) mixed with carpio to produce exactly what anglers are looking for today.
