Is it possible to buy a pair of half decent carp reels with a budget of only £100?
Carp targeted will be upto 20lb and casting distance no more than 80mtrs

I think the Okuma custom black are going for about £35 this week. They will be decent.

Okuma Custom Black CB-60 are a good shout. I bought one to use on my carp floater rod and put a pair on my barbel flood rods this year. Slightly overkill for my intended uses truth be known, but the line lay and clutch are simply superb on them. They are selling for around £40 each at present which is an absolute bargain!

You will not go wrong with either of the Okuma reels already mentioned and as said, good deals on at present that are worth taking advantage of

I like the addition of the hair band to keep to reel handle folded in, I'm stealing that idea. Mrs has enough hair bands as it is.

I like the look of the Okuma Inc 6000. Does the handle lock in place when folded away or do you have to add a band on to hold it back?

Okuma has great reviews I just bought a spod reel I had a shock how fast it retrieved and easy quick drag very smooth reel under £50 I wouldn't let the cheep price put you off as said the inc 6000 is very good

TBH the handle folding system is the only not so good point about of the reel. You have to unscrew it a long way, then it will sort of lock, but very loosely. Mine go in a pocketed holdall, so just unscrew and leave them loose. If I use a quiver I don't bother folding the handles. The good points and the price far outweigh this minor inconvenience though. I'm pretty sure I read on on here that there's a one touch folding handle off another Okuma real that fits.

Should mention, you can get the custom black ones with a push button folding handle which does away with the need for a band. That's what the pair on my barbel rods do

The Okuma Inception 6000's mentioned aren't beginner reels, they're just really good reels that don't cost a lot!
I have a set of Emblem 45's (cost £450], a set of Daiwa SS2600's with speed caps (cost £450), Baitrunner 10000 RB's (cost £250] and original 4500GT's.
I choose to use the Okumas over all the above, and they cost £130 for a set of 3. They're just really nice reels. Smooth, great line lay, good retrieve, excellent QD, really positive bail arm click. The one criticism I have is mentioned above, you have to screw the handle out a fair way for it to fold. And that's trivial really.

6000 inc really good valve robust reel. Used it for 18 months weekly. Mine are loaded with braid. Well worth buying.
