I've not been to one of these shows but am tempted to go to the Farnborough show next year, just to see what it is like. I am also looking at a new brolly and narrowed it down to a few options, but nowhere near me stock them so can't see them in the flesh. I was hoping that the show would be a good place to see these in the flesh and make a decision, and hopefully pick up a bargain. So, the question I am asking is, would the show meet these expectations (I'm conscious I need to check the manufacturers I'm interested in are attending) or am I better off going from reviews and speaking to tackle shops directly (I am not local to any of the show's so any trip will be a be it of a journey)

Personally I want hands on so the shows are a good place to see what you want to buy
It's just a shame you have to pay to walk into a glorified tackle shop lol

They are great foe looking at product ranges and comparing things, especially bigger items that your local place might not have a stock of.
However i think the era of getting really good bargains has gone. You do get some good deals but generally the big companies will not sell anything there and refer you to a local tackle company that is also at the show.
If you want deals the back end of the show (sunday afternoons usually) is a good time as a lot of small companies will start shifting gear. I once bought 10kg of tigernuts for a £1

trust me apart from the Northern show I have been to them all
and IMHO the only one worth going too is The Big One in Farnborough 5/6 March 2022 if you want to hear some good talks and get good show prices as its a buyers show but you have to really look around carefully and often a haggle works too I have bought lots of bait deals and clothing brolly waders gas all sorts food and drinks inside are expensive so so I used to take a small backpack with a couple of rounds of sarnies and a bottle of water and just buy a hot drink there

Fosters of Birmingham used to be the stop off after the nec gig.
They opened till late and had better deals than the show. Chatsworth house was the best one. All retailer's.sunday afternoon they gave it away.

There are definitely deals to be had at the shows. But you'll generally have to ask. If you walk up and offer full price I don't think many people will turn you down. But if you ask then you'll probably be able to do a bit of negotiation. Or bag the odd freebie.
My order of preference is NAS. Then the Big One, Sandown park just became a waste of time and I was never sold on the one that was out Essex way that stopped a few years back.
The best show of all was the Carp Society show in Dunstable. IMHO.

Sandown park for buyers was a crap show for BUYERS
I remember when all the dealers went to the organisers and said if you Let Eric`s Angling have stands we wont be coming price fixing tossers
so after that I phoned Sam up and put him in touch with Vince who used to run the Big one and as Sam said best trading he has ever done was at the Big One shame he has packed it in now

With the shortage of stock this year I would assume that there will not be any bargains. Go to see which one is the model you want bu5 assume that you will pay the same price as is available from your PC.

Korda did one years ago at one of the M25 lakes, outside, their gear and a few other brands were there.
Some bloke called Terry hearn rocked up with a carrier bag and a rod to do a talk.
Out the bag came a half drunk bottle of juice, followed by a catty and cat biscuits. After talking with the Korda matey he flung out a controller into the cat biscuits caught a mid twenty, put it back and drinking his orange juice jogged on.
Not a great advert for anything except for go cat, orange juice and his ability to catch a fish or two
