That is why I don't believe in the slightest that magazines died due to printing costs. They died because of the content. Some magazines have managed to keep their clientele by reproducing the same thing over and over, or just rehashing bro-science that fell out of favour after a year because people realised it made absolutely zero difference. It's why magazines now have to rely on social media and YouTube to maintain viewership. Fishing for clicks, in the hope that people will also buy the printed versions.
Companies aren't daft. They need to bring out the 'next big thing' to keep the punters fed. It's no different to technology and automobiles. The new iPhone, the new GTX graphics, The new Audi. The shot on the hook rig, lead clips, bait soaks... if you promote it enough and create that FOMO, you are laughing. Ali is laughing. Until moments like this when it goes one step too far.

I was in Ted Carters / Angling direct Preston a few years ago (probably 10 years ago seeing how time flies) and he happened to be in there doing a bait talk.
I stayed for a while, until I couldn't manage another 'the simple reality is...' then left.

Now then boys and girls, listen to Holmsey- 60 years ago we used “air rigs and boilies for carp, I ad a 64 and 56 before Walker ad his record and I actually caught the common Walker ad from London Zoo, I knew the zoo keeper as e took a Penguin off my hands that I kept for it's eggs, Penguin eggs are high in fatty fats that listen boys and girls when the temperature gets t 16.2 they seek out Penguin fats.
What you want is the eaviest ook possible, I had a 36lb Rudd out of a laboratory tank in 72, there were three of us fishing for it, days only, this one morning I forgot my thermometer but I'd seen one stuck ta side of tank, 21 degree it showed and I saw the fish clear as day, I'd got a grappling ook off my wife's boss, and sharpened it with a nail file and end f a swan Vesta box, then were days. Listen boys and girls a tip ear, go on fat and over 40 porn site and order post menopause ***** cream, big ook,, eavy ook and smeared with cream, I ad it that day - nobody could believe it.
All this underwater rubbish, I've fished tanks and garden ponds stuffed with big pigs, and fish to locate - sorry for another day, but I cast out a 72 yard hooklink, with a small mesh bag, 50 yards and caught 3 x 40s same day, not on on the same rig, but on same bloody cast.
