When stretched I was getting around 110 yards on 12ft rods. But wouldn't want to try any more

So for about the 5th time in 40 years shall I go with flouro and if so which one.
I can't cast any I've tried 90yards.
My lake has a tubing rule
I use flying back leads and traditional back leads
I use a semi slack line.
Is the investment and frustration worth it?
Interested in not just which to use but what edge you think it brings in actual situations

I'm new to fishing Fluoro this year so put 12lb Kontour on a small water setup and do believe has given me an edge, I definitely feel like I've caught more fish this year.
The water I'm on is getting clearer now the temps dropping too so I do think it will continue to benefit my approach.
I can cast about 80 yards using a 4oz lead but don't normally fish anywhere near that distance, maybe 30/40 yards
One thing I did have happen was that I lost my first few fish on it. I put this down to little/no stretch in the line so I play fish on a slightly lighter clutch to compensate for this.
What Mark said about sensitivity is spot on, it really surprised me to begin with how much feedback I get from semi slack lines it's like you get a warning before the run 👍.
I've still got mono on a set of spools but looking at putting some stronger Fluoro on my pits and have been looking at seaguar options and xline basically because it seems to be so cheap compared to the others.

I've just gone back to the Seagaur Invix as hadn't used Fluoro for years. Got to use a Palomar knot with it as everything else I've tried snaps like cotton.

Couldn't agree more. I've been using Gardner Mirage for four
years plus and, set up properly, it is an incredibly sensitive mainline that can register the slightest movement. I fish it almost exactly as TCarper describes. The only thing I would add is the need to continue to keep an eye on the line and slack it off, it continues to sink over a period of time and as such will tighten up at the rod tip end. I don't know how much difference that makes at the rig end but I like to keep an eye on it. Mirage needs to be tied with a palomar, in my experience. No need for back leads, the takes on fluro always make me chuckle, rod tip slamming down as though you've hooked a fish under the rod tip when it's actually been hooked 50 yards out.

Dont knock it / knock one out (!) till you've tried it! I like fluro mainlines for the same reasons that others state but it is expensive compared to mono . . . Hybron (whilst also pricey) is a genuine, more user and maintenance friendly alternative and just as good if not better than fluro if you fish slack and want a really quick sinking line . . .

I found tiger line 16lb the best behaved fluorocarbon casts well too, didn't get on with X-line at all sinks better than many but doesn't behave well on the spools, will take a look at the PB Hybron stuff, must admit l like the colour of the Thinking anglers FTX fluorocarbon been out a while now anyone give any reviews on this.

Been using 18lb Kontour this year.
After a short "break-in" period, I now find it easier to get on with than mono.

I've got the FTX on my little rods, so fishing the 16lb version on Daiwa Whisker 25 QD with 2oz leads. Used it for 3 over nighters upto 30yds, casts ok, obviously a bit coily as it's still new. Caught each time I've used it, had to give a couple of fish the beans to keep them out of snags and it's dealt with them fine. Sinks really well as you'd expect and does sit on the reels really nicely. It's replaced 20lb xline, I still like the xline (and it's much cheaper) but the FTX colour is much better. Early impressions are that its good stuff.
