Absolutely, would love to see more publicity bans. Getting fed up of film crews and drones on the lakes I fish. They just attract the glory boys. Fortunately, one of my tickets does have a publicity ban, needless to say its the most chilled with no 'celebrities'....

I do all forms of angling from Barbel, Chub, Pike, Cat, Grayling, Fly/Trout, and I am good friends with loads of general coarse/pleasure anglers, take it from me it's not just the Barbel Boys who utterly despise what Carp Fishing has turned into.
I hear it first-hand all the bloody time!

When I started Carp Fishing all those years ago, I used to think "They have got it so good down south" Now I think "Boy I'm a lucky sod being up North!" On the 4 waters I fish, they have been meticulously kept to the same ethos and standards as back in the 80/90's

I predict carping is peaking,...there is only so many times the wheel can be reinvented..
There is very little individual skill in carp angling now,compared to the likes of a time served all round angler,who knows how to do shotting patterns, tie spade end hooks in the dark, play and land fish with a rod that actually bends ,and brings a smile on the face regardless of size,or species..
Carping is one dimension, its all done for you,all in a packet off the Internet or on YouTube.. now,I believe those who haven't done the apprenticeship on the smaller species,and don't know,or want to learn about other species,harder species to catch,are missing out,..these so called instant carp fishers,are most likely not true anglers in their entirety, but got caught up in the hype ,the gadgets,the tattooed sleeves,the beards,the drone,the deeper..the marketing, the money ,the stupid high prices of some places to fish..
It was once said, carp angling saved course fishing,now I believe carp fishing,could do the opposite to the past time we all say we love,..
Myself I set my own rules,I avoid busy lakes,I avoid other anglers,I avoid lakes with very big fish,because with big fish comes big heads,or people with some sort of ego..and so,like my father predicted,although I love carping ,slowly and surely I find my self heading back to real angling,on the smaller species..
Carping is a circus,...as for these Hormones real, otherwise or imagined,or just plain jealous other people ,it's all going to potentially go mammeries up...
Money ,greed ,and ego...!

Wished a lake I used to be on had a publicity ban.It would of stopped some bellend making a Facebook page for it,totally ruined the place

They will be back filling them or stocking them with other species when everybody is sick to the back teeth of where we are now. Far too many fame seekers which in turn drives supply and demand
instant anglers with instant fish with instant results, the word plastic springs to mind. Good fishery management with realistic stocking is the only way to sustain this pastime for the future for me.
Anyway, where were with hormones.

One lake I fish has now produced a 40lb plus fish and it's very difficult to get a swim. Let alone a swim that give you a good chance of a fish. 5 years ago you could turn up midweek and see hardly another car in the car park. It's a bloody circus now.

Well mate,same...recently I planned to fish my local ressi,I don't go there all the time,but have loved it for fishing near 40 yrs,..
So I turn up, on Monday 7am,..only to basically bucket my swim,I have ,never ever,ever,had to bucket a swim on any lake before..
Literally other 'anglers'chucking stuff willy nilly on their barrows as fast as they could ..
I was saddened..

Guys, i understand the moral disgust you are venting, i also fully agree that many waters in the uk, france and now even in holland are laughable, etc etc, but exactly what law dictates that an unknow substance is illegal? Is there even a list with substances not allowed, and i'm not talking maggots here.
Anyways, it does clear up that silly "got a clear spot here, lets's spod it to death" approach , cause finding a clear spot can not be enough for such results.

A very good question indeed,I don't know mate ,myself I can individually remove myself from modern carping and the associated bs and dramas,many cannot or don't want or wish to,or even worse don't know any better..
I've said it before,I'm getting my trad kit spot on,...proper fishing,proper aspirations and my own self made mindset of enjoying angling..
Change has to come from within ourselves and angling in general..I have stopped watching TV,brainwashing the masses,same for angling ,I don't follow anyone or anything,my own path...I catch loads of fish all species,
All on my own terms...
