M.A.G.A... make angling great again.. if only.. with idiots muck flinging for likes or attention. It seems we have a long way to go.. 
I can't stand Elliot or Jim. However this sort of thing is nothing new. I was on Pingewood when Terry Hearne had Jockey, sacked it for a while and it was dead the next day. We don't know the stress the fish have on them from the captures. Simon Crow wrote an article of a fish dying on him in a sling years ago.
Personally i'll never sack a fish, cameras are so good you can get a decent self take shot / video no matter what time night or day you catch them. There are korda videos with fish in retainer slings for 6 hours plus. He needs to come out say how long the fish was in the sack for and just put it to bed. The longer him and squeaky shelley are throwing accusations at each other the worst it'll get.

After this incident and a discussion on wording of the use of a net or retainier when retaining fish, my club is putting an email/facebook post up about doing night time self takes. It may not stop people retaining fish completely, but it should help.
Good thing about my club is most rules are common sense based, but the use of the word "retain" in that rule came about before retainer slings became a thing, and its wording is too vague. So I think the rule is going to be dropped entirely, with education being the best policy.

I'd allow 1hour only to retain fish in a sling and absolutely no recasting rods until all fish are returned - worry about what you've got, not clicks, not £s or a bait deal. Enjoy it."
I agree 100% and it's a rule on my place that a rod can't be recast until the fish is returned. You can only retain the fish in the landing net while sorting out your camera as well. I deliberately don't supply retainer slings.

I think that people wanting to show off on social media etc has caused a demise in fish care.
Did anyone see the CCMoore video of a run recently that caused a few comments?!
Let's all be honest, any sacking or retaining of a fish increases the risk of harm or stress to some extent.
I personally don't see the need when you can take a perfectly good night self take with a 4yr old iPhone, a free timer app and a £7 tripod!

To be fair to Elliot I wouldn't want to deal with a 50 on my own either, the only time I have there was 2 other guys there and it makes things so much smoother and better.
Also sacked or not a 50 is usually going to be an older fish, u gotta remember that we are playing tug of war with these fish by their lips and when they finally are knackered enough and give up we take them out of the water. Just imagine a 60 yr old bloke w went to sit down to eat his dinner but instead gets a tongue piercing and legs it, while that's happening he realises someone is trying to pull him the other way, he's knackered then gets his head held under the water for 5 mins 😁.
Sacked or not there's always going to be the last guy to catch the one that died

He managed to land it, unhook it and transfer it to a sack all on his own but couldn't release it without help?

Not expecting anybody to relate to this, but my last picture is about 20 years ago. At some point i started thinking this is all pretty sad and what do i have to prove to anybody. Maybe tomorrow i get my fish from some public lake near etang 5 and it will be back in the water in 90 seconds. Good enough for me😉
