This is not the small stuff. For an angler rather than a fisherman it's what makes him what he is. Your definition of angling is also incorrect. Fishing with a rod line and reel is fishing, not angling. Angling is a code based on absolute respect for the fish and environment.
Go ahead and do whatever makes you happy. Just don't call yourself an angler.

Well I for one understand and totally agree with absolutely everything you say,and that's from someone who is clearly different in my mindset from 99% of the British population..
It's called thinking for myself...
'Yesterday I had three fishermen turn up,they had no idea,they didn't want to learn,had zero respect for the flora,fauna of the lake,no landing net ,no unhooking mat,not willing to listen ,I went up to the pay slot ,and gave them the money back ,and got them off the place'....they didn't even understand why...they were the definition of the new cult of fisherman,...not anglers,...nor would I even waste my breath on them..
There is a huge difference between an angler and fisherman...,an angler would under stand,a fisherman could not understand,....your right half century..for sure..

Guys, can I jusr repeat what I already said.
I don't use a drone, deeper or anything else in my fishng or angling. I take fish care very seriously, and always ahve mat, propolis etc. I take litter home with me, my own and other peoples if I see it lying around.
By small stuff I mean putting it in perspective. As someone already said, compared to Covid, war and etc. how someone fishes is small stuff.
I gert you all take your angling very seriously and that's great. But things cd o change. There's another generation coming, like it or not. Those lads that were turned away? Why not teach them a better way, and hope they'll do the same for their kids etc.
Whether you like Korda, and the drone stuff on Youtube or not, they are popular, and they do promote fish care at every opportunity, but it's also a business, so they have to find and catch fish. If that means using a deeper, drone or whatever, so be it.

I got you mate...I was talking generally..
Do you know something ,I have helped out so many people over the years,so much stuff,too much to mention ,I enjoy it,giving back..
But ,yesterday ,those men,...they knew everything,and nothing I tried to help them,but I could see I was completely wasting my time ,despite my best efforts, they were and will most likely unreachable..I found them wandering around the site,leaving five baited rods in the lake unattended..
They had to go..!

Don't worry HC,..I've been the same my whole life as far as angling goes at least..
I've a 23 year old son,who gets it as well,so all is not quite lost..
I was looking after a friends fishery yesterday,sure was an eye opener..

Totaly against both drones and seadeepers(being used to find fish) i understand and like the veiws and footage a drone gives but they are blatently being used widely for the wrong reasons in my oppion.
I've never used a bait boat, drone or fish finder and I never will. My thoughts in this tie in pretty closely with Halfcentury - if I can't cast there - be it the distance, under a canopy of branches, snags - then so be it, and I like to think that this allows the fish to have some sanctuary, an area that they feel safe. Boats dropping baits in places where it would be impossible to cast to is just fishing, and definitely not angling in my book.
In tandem with that, I go to the lake for some peace and quiet, some solitude and for a bit of a break from real life. If someone starts driving their boat around (I hate the sound of them) or flying their drone then that is indisputably going to tarnish proceedings. The idiots with boats that leave their alarms on full pelt when dropping their baits are just the worst kind; inconsiderate, unskilled and there for all the wrong reasons - else why would they be so intent on destroying the peace and tranquility of the environment like that?
Boats, drones, fish finders are all simply cheating, in my book; they tip the balance far to much in favour of the humans, don't give the fish a sporting chance and are unwelcome anywhere near me.

Fully agree .. I was fishing the Warwickshire Avon once smack opposite the theatre . From no where a drone appeared in front of me and then made its way towards me . It stopped about 15ft in front of me and around 15 ft in the air.
I honestly felt a bit intimidated and also it was intrusive as I was sat trying to trot a float for a few roach .

Enter the bait boat, no way on earth can a man put a baited rig over a nice patch of bait at 170yds. Add sonar, on the plateau at 180yds, add camera, on the small clear spot on said plateau.
Castable fish finders, from what I have seen great for mapping out countours but poor at finding fish?
Drones, a whole other level.
Goes back to merit for me but when people show a picture it is very rare the real truth is with it

I understand drones being used to make an angling film. That's not real angling, it's just for entertainment. It'll cost them thousands to make a vid so I understand they need to make catching as sure a thing as they possibly can.
But anyone that uses one in a real fishing situation is a cheating ****. There's no two ways about it.

Lol yeah korda uses the drones for our benefit to show fish behaviour etc. I have yet to see a lake with a drone on it. Any fishery that would allow that would just be silly. Would be like heathrow airport at the lake
PS anybody that says people like Danny Fairbrass or Tom Dove etc arent anglers need to get their heads checked

If used in the correct manner are they any different, all be it safer than climbing a tree to get a high vantage point to find fish from?
What were peoples thoughts when marker floats/Spod's/Spomb's and marker sticks were first released allowing you to find mark and feed areas at range making everything a lot easier
The flip side could be how many people using Drones have the correct Licenses' attained from the aviation authority?
