I used the mike holly tip and founds it works great with synchro
Put some wet (wrist) sweat bands on the spools for at least an hour on the way to the lake to help with the “wetting ageing” part.

I've always soaked my syncro in water for a good while. And it's gone on like a dream. I respooled recently and it was the same.

Would not recommend doing this, but today I realised my 18lb syncro has been on my spools for three years
It's bullet proof. My favourite line out there alongside XLine (two years on the spools) and PowerPro Braid (three years).

I hope not. Ive just stripped katran eclipse off my spools, used for one session, as it was doing what youre describing. Went back to syncro as its always served me well

You may well receive another spool with all the inbuilt problems of the original spool. A few years ago, I filled three reels with Synchro Loaded. What an absolute nightmare ! Straight away I knew that all three reels were gonna be unusable and had to strip and bin the lot. I've also had similar issues with the XT. I don't think that it's the line as such, but the difference in design of the donor spool compared to a 6000 or 8000 style of spool onto which it is being wound. I now stick to using the traditional 4 oz bulk spools which are similar in shape to an actual reel spool. The brand could be Daiwa, Berkley or whatever as long as it doesn't come supplied on a wagon wheel ! I have the line coming off the bulk spool in an anticlockwise direction ( as if viewed from the reel ) and find line twist is virtually non existent. I consider it the same as transferring line from one reel to another. Done it countless times and never introduced twist .Try it and see if this works for you. If it doesn't at least you'll have had a lovely 1000m grassy walk 😂

I might give that a try. I've just spooled up my spare spools with some Thinking Anglers OGX in 15lb (comes on a more trad spool) and it went on perfect. Not a hint of twist.

While we're talking about spools, can we petition the tackle manufacturers to stop churning out spools that have a little V shaped cut-out in the lip of the spool, meaning that as you try and reel it on and the line capacity reduces, it catches the cut.

I went from Syncro to OGX in the 15 also.
Great line. Bear in mind it is slightly thinner.

Mine too. Put it on 3 reels last year exactly as per the ESP video, line was pre-soaked and it's absolute garbage. Horribly twisted and nothing solved it. Pulled it all off over winter and will be replacing it with something else.

I've always spooled lines using the pencil method, after soaking overnight. Never had a problem doing it this way. I now use a line spooler which has a suction pad at the base and a tensioner on the spool. It does the same job, but allows 1 person to do it. Monofilament soaked overnight goes on like cotton thread. Load it under tension through a damp cloth, under an even tension. Don't overfill the spool, and wet the line with a test cast or two, away from your baited spot, before you try to cast to your chosen spot.Bone dry line will act up no matter which line you use, or how it was put on.

Thought it was just me but reading this looks like other people having the same problems too ! I've used syncro for a while and never had issues with it. Re spooled about a month back and the line just will not settle on my reels. Soon as there is no tension on the line it just jumps off the spool. I'm considering taking a good bit off and see what it's like then because it's good line. Anybody got any other recommendations for line that's tough enough to fish around weed but will cast 100 yards ? Thinking I might try touchdown again if this doesn't settle down.
