Yes,shouldn't be paying more than £30,..
It tastes nice actually, best tea I have had from a flowing stream,river is the Camel..
I also filtered some water from a cattle trough,which was auto filled up a farm...lol,I'm still alive..!!..
Those Sawyers are good,you can backwash them as well,it comes with the kit mate..
Much lighter than carrying water..
Nb,I'm planning a micro adventure,..just a tarp ,bug net and some basic food,plus a stick stove,and Hammaro lighting paper,see how far I get before I turn round..!!

I have the Sawyer mini filter as well, on road trips I've taken 2 camelback-esque water container put the filter in series to use as a gravity filter and it works a treat, very handy for more than one person.

I get a lot of satisfaction out of trimming my kit down, its the climber in me.
Snugpak exocet rucksack.
No rig making stuff, just 6 hook links coiled up in an empty hook packet. All of my end tackle fits in a JAG sharpening pouch, leads aswell, few leaders etc.
Two rods, no need for three. No chair either, days only. Flask, Nalgene with drink, and a bite to eat. Catty, bait and other bits in a rather empty rucksack. Unhooking mat acts as sling that I carry my rods in.
For nights my food bag would be whatever carrier bag came from the shop I bought the stuff in, an atom shelter in the unhooking mat and the lightest bed chair I can find. CBA carrying it mind, id break out the porterlite.

I will simplify modern carp angling for you. If your not on fish you can sit it out and HOPE that they come into your swim and want to eat your bait. Or you can move your 3 barrow loads to the other side of the lake
Worst thing you can be is a camper imho. I started out with **** all gear and it's how I have always done it and prefer it.
Prime example, busy day tickets, pure pot luck. You either get in a swim with fish in it or hoping they will move into it otherwise you may as well be sat at home, it's a lottery. Punishers catch the most fish purely by being there
Light as possible, know what bite time is and taylor your fishing around that for me nowadays, be prepared to move. Watch 90% of carp anglers and you will see they are campers, the other 10% catch the fish
Are you doing nights, if so you need a tent and all the associated crap, however, pending seasons you can fish say 4am until 12pm (me today) or say 4pm until 12am. Depends what you want from your fishing. If you are fishing light it takes 10 minutes to pack up, a doddle for me

For me there is only so much trimming down of gear you can do before you compromise your angling.
For example, if you leave those few extra leads out to save weight and you end up in a swim where the fish move out to a range where you can't reach because you've left the extra leads at home then that's bad angling.
Loads of other examples of that.
I think the best way and it comes down to what vehicle you have is to take everything and then fish to the situation you are presented with and leave what you don't need in the car/van. Risk here is getting gear nicked from idiots breaking in.
I always leave the floater gear in the car just in case they are having it on the surface.
Lastly, as long as you can fit all your gear on one barrow load and keep it organised so a quick move is possible I really can't see the difference between taking a full barrow load or half a barrow load. It's still one trip to and from your swim.
I do a lot of cycling and it's a similar thing there, people spend thousands of pounds on the latest carbon fibre bikes but forget that the thing that's letting them down is the extra weight they carry on their body.

I simply cant abide 1) buying all the gear 2) packing/setting it up 3) carrying it (I don't use a barrow). I often go fishing on the spur of the moment, so it suits me really.
For example, I carry a single float for floater fishing in a pen slot in the rucksack, the hook is a bottom bait hook and the hook link a piece of mainline. It is easy to go down the path of you need, say, a 10lb line for zigs, 8lb line for surface fishing, 8 different types of swivels, a raft a hooklength materials, and leads for every eventuality - you don't.
Like much of life in general fishing has become way over complicated, keep it simple and consistent I say.

Wise words indeed ,especially the bit about if you can't cast to them..
I feel similar..I use low tc rods since the 80s,if I can't reach ,so be it,not gonna scritch bout it ..
