Just seen this, how disgraceful, did the ignorant idiot really think threatening to stab the EA officer would get him off.
Man fined over £2000 for fishing without a licence and threatening behaviour.
The Environment Agency - Kent & South London Fisheries Team - were out at the popular Darenth complex checking fishing licences. Gary Carr from Kent was not best pleased to be asked for his licence and threatened to stab the officers. This unacceptable behaviour and illegal activity resulted in convictions of fishing without a licence, threatening behaviour and refusing to give personal details. He was fined £2205.50.
Nino Brancato, the Angling Trust's National Enforcement Support Manager said: “I hope this level of fine shows it is not acceptable to abuse Environment Agency staff for the simple task of showing your fishing licence.”

Not harsh enough, fine is ok but threatening to stab someone doing their job should be doing time.

I thought you were talking about me on the syndicate, taking a swim up for 4/5 days at a time, lol
I saw that on Angling Trusts page, absolutely disgusting.
As soon as the word 'stab' is used if the EA officer was on the phone to the police it's likely an Armed Response Unit would be despatched.
That's a biggie in that arrested and taken to the police station gives an easy confiscation of fishing tackle as well, although that's not been mentioned.
We really do not need people like this in fishing.

Disgusting, his name should be shared around ALL fisheries and the owners should ban him, then he will not be welcome anywhere, our club did this to two guys who stole lots of Carp from our lakes to stock their own pool, lots of people shared their names with and photos with all the local fisheries and further afield and they have now vanished from the angling world hanging there heads in shame

Definitely not enough punishment. Scumbag.
When I was a teenager I got caught fishing without a license I didn't fish a lot and never thought about getting a license. Nothing happened just a small fine site it was 60 or 0”80 quid. Then a few years later I had been d fishing my lake that only allowed 2 rods so I only had one license. I went onto another little runs water day ticket lake and fished 3 rods with a friend and again got caught. This time was a genuine mistake I just didn't think about getting another license for the 3rd rod. I got made to physically go to a court hearing and fined £850.
That was probably 15 lears ago now. So for an adult to be fishing without a license and then not give his details and then threaten to stab someone. 2200 is is bit lenient in comparison to my penalty.

Way too lenient the find is fair enough for not having a licence BUT threatening to stab someone deffinatly not should have had is tackle confiscated and be up in the court's facing a sentence.
My opinion with licence dodgers is they think they can get away with it now as lake's are fenced off preventing access for EA bailiffs, when I ran a lake I changed the rules that lake bailiffs could ask for your licence if you didn't show it pack up and leave and if you couldn't prove you had one for that date your permit had gone. I have licences to cover 4 rods even though only a few of the water's I fish allow 4 , haven't they now made it where you don't always get a card unless you ask for it if so that's madness. I honestly can't remember the last time mine were checked by an EA official deffinatly a good 20 years ago

Glad to see this low life got a decent fine and a bit of name and shame should keep him off any ticket books for a while.
You can't hire a car without a driving licence, IMO you shouldn't really be allowed to buy a club/syndicate/day ticket without a valid rod licence.
The EA clearly don't have, and never will have enough resource to cover every bit of water in the country. It makes sense for club and day ticket bailiffs to take this responsibility up as well.

Got my licence checked a couple of years ago and the EA officer was wearing a stab vest, say no more.

The sad thing is the fine will probably end up being spread across silly amount of time and barely end up being paid.
Threatening to stab someone should be punished harshly. A small fine unlikely to be paid is no deterrent, sadly as a country we aren't strong enough and nobheads like that will carry on their lives

Got caught once, in the old river board days. I was fishing two rods at Castle Howard (in Yorkshire). I'd seen the bailiff coming down from miles away, but knew I had two rod licenses. When he approached I got my wallet out, 2 Northumbria, 2 Severn and Trent, 2 Thames, 2 for the Hampshire Avon and 1 for Yorkshire. I'm convinced I should have had 2 for Yorkshire, as I always bought them in pairs. Luckily he just made me buy a second license and send it to their head office in Leeds.

To many snow flake do no gooders defending these people while victims are ignored. Now the country is skint we should turn the heating off in all the prisons and scrap all the non essentials, feed prisoners on gruel.
