Any one heard the story of a 64lb fish being caught from the Manor in Essex. And was returned to the water at 29lb.. Go figure as the kids would say

Was it losing water or spawn.
I have seen stuff where fish are unable to regulate their water content, kidney issues, and they balloon up. They look spawnbound but its severe water retention.

It was water retention apparently. Angler forced the water out of it

I believe there's a fish in DDAPS known as the "water common" which loses fluid on the bank after capture.

Fish can do it when stressed too. I once had a Carp weigh nearly 2lb less from only 4 hours in a sack.
Then there's dropsy...poor buggers, lost a expensive Koi to that!

Think I need to go to "Specsavers", initially I thought it was someone holding up a "Long thin Fish" with their "Beer belly hanging out over their trousers and they was resting the fish on it

The more I look at that pic the more angry I feel...the antis will love that!
Is there any common sense left in angling, does the captor genuinely feel proud of that, or was the pic taken to show the state of it? Either way it shouldn't of been lifted.

You can only believe the captor thought he was doing the fish some good by removing the water. But it really is best to let nature take its course with these type of things.
No doubt a fish of that weight was his PB by some mile. And like most anglers wanted a pic to show of to the rest of the world. Let's face it, that's why we all do it. ( not sure if photos were taken before hand or not ) But let's face it he was ill advised to put that fish through anymore stress than it had already been through
In these more enlightened times. And intense social media scrutiny he's recieved since catching that fish. He would of been best to release it with out taking out the water.
