Just joined a new club for this year, one of the rules is a max 2.5lb tc rods.
I have looked online and Ebay and they are as rare as rocking horse p00.
All I can find is some Dam cameros or some abu garcia rods. Anyone got any advice or recommendations please

Korum do some barbel rods, 2.25lb test curve I think. I also think free spirit do some.

You'd have to get them built up but Harrison do a 2.5 Torrix blank.

Free Spirit do a Hi-S in 2.5 too.

I've got a 2.5 lbs tc Torrix and it's superb. Had it made by Mark Tumley. Chestnut brown with cork handle.

My son has a couple of these, they seem decent - nice looking rods for sure.

Sounds like an ideal opportunity to get some Baby Snipers if you go the custom route.....

Have a look at Fox floater rods, they're 2.25 and lovely rods.

I picked up 3 for £150 quid because it was an older model 👍.

In fact a few brands do floater rods around 2.25/2.5 so there is a fair bit of choice.

I have 12' Torrix in 2.25 as my barbel allrounders but could easily use them on smaller waters for carp . . .also have Freespirit CTX Travel 9' 2.5 that could also be used for ponds etc

If I had to stick to a 2.5lb rod limit my list would include . . .

Harrison Torrix 12' 2.25 / 2.5
Harrison Accurix 12' 2.5
Harrison / Mark Tunley Dark Carbon 12' 2.5
Century Armalite mk3 12' 2.25
Century Stealth 12' 2.5
Freesprit Hi-S 12' 2.5

If on a budget Korum barbel rods are a good shout - just be aware they are understated for the test curve so a 2lb is more like 2.5 and a 2.75 more like 3lb . . .they also have white sight tips so maybe not ideal . . .

Without doubt if I was going for a set of 2.5tc rods it would be the Harrison Acurix. Absolutely wonderful rods.

I had some harrison ballistas a few years ago and loved them, but out of my price range now.
Saw some daiwa whiskers 12ft 2.5tc 2ndhand on tackle tavern for £180, not sure how old they are. I could probably stretch to some free spirit ctxs only need a pair as 2 rod limit.
Not sure of the reason for the 2.5lb tc limit.

Depends what you want to pay. Ive used a set of 2.5 century graphenes for a few years and they are the best 2.5 rods ive owned and ive had 2.5 hi's, cs and accurix all in 2.5tc. Free spirit cs are 2.5 and lovely rods. Then you have your armalites, accurix etc or look at barbel rods. You dont have to pay silly money. I got my graphenes for less than half price and they were brand new with there tags still attached. Im selling them if anyone is interested as im packing in. They are still in mint as new condition.

If you're not looking to spend a load of money take a look at used on eBay. There is a set of Shimano Technium and a set of Shimano Hyperloop that were both nice rods.

If you're lucky a set of original Wychwood Maximisers come up every now and then.

I'd cross check the pricing of the Tackle Tavern used stuff with sold items on eBay, some of their pricing is ambitious. I assume they must take offers or they wouldn't sell anything.

Mk1 Terry Hearn rods are 2.6tc and are a very good rod.

Ring up the tackle box in Kent 01322 292400 they have some trade in 12ft 2.5lb Harrison acurix rods like brand new condition £170 a rod they have abbreviated handles they had 3 of them in stock when I was in the last week

Not by people who knew anything about rod blanks. Still come up on fleabay cheap. You wont get a better rod than the accurix in 2.5 lb off the shelf.

My experience says otherwise, it's a personal thing. What was, in your opinion, so wrong with the blanks then?

*I'm referring to the Maximiser SPD model if there were more than one version.

No your reading it wrong or i wrote it wrong . Fantastic blanks not underated by people in the know . They are that good i still have 12 unbuilt blanks and three sets of customs i built that i would not sell 👍

Aren't the tackle box cfx built on the same blank as the SPD's were?

No the factory in china that produced the original wychwood blanks (maximiser spd/spd pike/pandemonium and others i cant recall closed down many years ago.The tackle box rods are built on evoke blanks which were carried by hopkins holloway which do have a similar weave pattern

I got an immaculate pair for £80 2 years back, used, but hardly, 2.5.
Just waiting for the right water to use them, glad to hear you rate them, I've only heard good things and praise.

I've got a set of Sundridge rods in 2.5, I think they're outstanding for smaller waters/close range and I could park a 1oz lead on a saucer with them. The downside is the 40mm ringing pattern. Folks disregard small and less fashionable firms though, that's their loss.

There are lots of excellent blanks about these days what lets most down are the size of guides and ringing patterns also the length of handles on shorter rods all inhibit a blanks performance.
