Was wondering who on here has used them and their thoughts.

I ordered 5 x 5kg bags of hemp/corn mix for it to rock up today. All 5 bags are basically just hemp with half a cup of corn literally not even half a tin and they all weigh between 3.4kg - 3.7kg a bag instead of 5kg.

Absolutely shocking. Would love to know if I was just unlucky or if they are just taking advantage of people at will

So just to add to this thread. I complained about the amount of corn and weight of bags and had a reply back saying that it states on the ad 400g of corn and hemp is the more expensive item I should just add more corn. Also my scales arent calibrated.

So looking at their website I noticed all of a sudden additional wording was added to the item in line with 400g of corn only. It was displayed on one item for sale not the second variant of same product with a bucket. When I refreshed the page it was then displayed on the 2nd item too so they literally added the description to their website after I complained to cover their shoddy product.

I also pointed out that I tested 2 x scales and that 3 bags was within tolerance of 5kg and 2 bags was under 4kg so if this is the case they severely gave me too much hemp

My honest opinion avoid as man how dishonest can you be

I understand that they've had quite a few issues in the past with customer dissatisfaction. I don't think particles are a worthy business model all in all, there always seems to be one problem or another with them all.

I had issues with Impact Particle in the past with long delays in delivery and their packaging was woeful. That being said what was delivered was a decent product and as described.

Kent Particles are a con. The fact they would literally change their website description as soon as someone complains to cover the product they shipped out is absolutely shocking. Caught right in the act as well. I wondered how I could miss such a bald statement only for it to appear on the 2nd item after a refresh miraculously

O well life lesson learned. The £80 spent wont affect me hopefully this post would stop others from making the same mistake as I did.

Do your own mate it's a no brainer.

I just cook up what I need when I need it either in the burco or in the huge stock pan and burner I have

Nutrabaits as well. But that might of been the bait & feed. Heavily cut basemix to increase profit margin.. Naughty.. don't think they recovered after that. Disappeared of the radar pretty quickly..

Funny as I was going to put an order in with Norfolk particle but no one but Kent Particles does hemp and corn. All do hemp and maze and I prefer corn. Well now I have ended up with just hemp

The only way to get top quality particles is to do your own. Far too many people have problems with these companies

Why not support your local tackleshop. If you can't or don't want to prepare your own. Assuming you have a local tackleshop. I'm sure they will be more than willing to prepare what ever you want. Most shops have been knocking out hemp for the match boys for years. Just a thought..

These days, with all the info and equipment available, you're so much better off making your own.

Better, Cheaper, More seeds for your money.

I've said it before on here, but properly prepared particle will outfish any boilie on the market.

Yeah I work a 10hr days and dont have the time to soak hemp and corn and boil it etc. I will happily pay over the odds to get it done for me so I can just go and enjoy my fishing which is my stress release from reality.

Unfortunately as per this post seem even paying over the odds doesnt get a decent product lol

David if you don't have time maybe one thing I could suggest if you have the room somewhere (shed, garage etc)
Is to buy a burco and a Tapo smart plug you can control the plug from anywhere via the app so can turn the burco on and off when you need too.

I've got a couple of Tapo smart plugs and they are brilliant for this sort of situation where your particles can be ready for when you get home to go fishing 👍

Bought 8kg worth of multi buy corn from amazon to add to the mix. It will do the job. Probably is best just doing your own over a weekend not fishing and freezing it etc I just cant be arsed with work and young kids and dogs and everything the world throws at you to waste your weekend making bait lol. As much as I enjoy my fishing everything has a limit

To cook hemp all you need to do is boil water, chuck the hemp and boiling water in an old cool box, and forget about it for 36 hours. It takes 5 minutes one evening. I work 50-60 hours per week and still manage to do my own with no effort

Thats not strictly true, There are not many people who can do it as well as a good particle company. If you want basic run of the mill maize etc then yes, However, if you want it done correctly then it can then it can take years of experiance and practice to get it consitently right
Some companies use chemical preservitives, Tap water that has chlorine etc .

Oh behave! Particles are dead easy to prep, and anyone can do them well. It really doesn't take years of practice at all! And it's the only way to guarantee getting the right amount of decent bait. As I said, way too many stories of sub standard baits from all the companies that pop up and then usually disappear again at some point.

So you personally know how "most carp anglers" prepare particles? No of course not. and as said, these companies don't do what you are saying anyway. ,soak, boil, sell. That's all they do. Just what anyone can themselves dead easily

On a level i agree with you for your basics i,e Hemp, corn various particles.

Ive started using Dan Kilgour (Big Dog) particles of late and done well on them, could i do tigers as good as him, possibly but i very much doubt it. His tigers are next level.

I agree Ian - there's nothing available off the shelf that's as good as can be done at home. Big Dogs are good but still not as good as doing it yourself imo.
As for years of experience required to do it right.... nah... a quick Google will give you a reliable fool-proof guide nowadays.

preparing particles is much the same as rolling boilies - easy to do ok / good but always possible to do better & is seems the people preparing them fall into these categories too.

I have been doing them for a very long time & am always learning so I would definitely say that experience comes into play for really good particles - especially when it comes down to controlling certain aspects of the prep if you are looking at getting the best from them. My maize takes 3 weeks minimum to get to where I want it - hemp probably the same.

There have been a couple of occasions over the last few years where I have seen reactions that have left me astounded as to what is possible with a really well prepared particle compared to a "soak & boil" - especially around keeping fish in the area with minimal amounts of bait.

So whats the best way of cooking Hemp and getting it onto the next level from just boiling it? Garlic ? Letting it go off/ fermenting ?

I no Mark Specialized hookbaits swears by his rotten hemp and Garlic.. I've always been of the opinion fresh is best. Add what you like chilli ,Garlic. I've never felt it makes much difference. Hemp will not ferment. No sugar content. It will just go off.

depends on your definition of ferment

might not be any sugars but there is a chemical reaction caused by yeasts & bacteria.

yoghurt, kefir & shrimp paste are all examples of something fermenting without sugars being created.

I have used hemp that smells so bad, people were gagging when they went near it - the fish loved it - a small amount in my particles will have them turning over the area & hanging around for hours afterwards. some of the best reaction I have ever seen to a bait. the worse it gets, the more they like it.

to fermet mine I rinse it, add a jar of crushed garlic (it's cheap) & leave it in a bucket for a week. I boil it up for 20 mins, transfer to giant cool box & seal it up & leave it overnight to continue stewing. the following day it is still hot but no longer boiling, I'll add any water in case it's sucked any more up then I add a couple of spoons full of vitamin c & a load of molasses. stir it all up. vitamin c & molasses work as bacteria food imo. after a few days when it's cooled, I'll transfer it to a bucket & leave it until I need to use it - I've left it for weeks before & it gets better with age IMO. definitely different types of bacteria at work - depends on what one takes hold but you can tell the difference by the smell - sometimes it will be poo, sometimes puke, sometimes sulphurous - each one quite distinct but created by different bugs. it's mainly because I am not as careful with my cleaning of buckets & pans.

this year I will be adding some prepared EM1 after it has cooled to try & control the bacteria.
