I'm not subscribed to those...got plenty of other companies spamming the granny out of me though (fishing related and tech related)

So grateful for the "Find all from sender" feature so I can bulk delete all their emails in one hit (if I have let them build up)

I automatically unsubscribe the moment the marketing starts, a habit i've done for years.

To be honest, I'm completely allergic to marketing anyway, at the end of the day all their intentions are are to find means of making you part with your money, and a lot of is akin to adverts for snake oil.

I walked out of the tackle box the other day with just a gas canister. The look of shock on their faces (still stuck it in a paper bag though, save the trees and all that)

With DNA its a e-mail a day near enough during offer times, out of interest, how many find that too much ?

I have found Munch baits to be just as bad with the email if not worse even after being removed from the mailing list.

Any more than an email say one or twice a month and I tend to unsubscribe.

I like the occasional reminder of something but I like to keep my email inbox for stuff that really matters if I can.

Hard work nowadays!

I've used DNA baits exclusively for the last 5 or 6 years and never seen the marketing this intense before! I just end up immediately deleting them now!

Thanks for the feedback guys i will pass it on to the media team and i apologise if you feel it has been too much over this Black Friday period.

All major online retailers are the same nowadays unfortunately and i myself have unsubscribed to a few over the last couple of weeks as it has been relentless this year. I believe their popularity in the marketing world is because you can get direct feedback as to how many sale conversions they are creating. They are very good value for money in a world where it isn't that transparent to see where your sales are coming come from.

Again, sorry if it's been annoying!

Thanks for posting Jason

Maybe ask the team how many they've sent out, they should be able to give you that list, see if you think its too many...we could just be moaners

Maybe a break down list on the subcribe page, ie, tick if you want to be made aware of new products, offers, videos etc.

"nobody reads advertising. people read what interests them & sometimes it's advertising"(Howard Gossage)

I get that emails are cheap too compared to paid social ads etc but it's all too easy for marketers to get lost in their metrics - reach, frequency & attribution paths etc but without decent content it's all pointless & can quickly turn into brand negativity.

subsurface is the only angling brand I subscribe to & read - usually once a week with varied topics & even content outside of fishing (music recco's) - keeps it interesting & maintains brand awareness without being too in your face. gaz seems to have got the balance just right.

wrt marketing in carp fishing I think that it is typically VERY GOOD compared to a lot of other industries & the fact that in some cases a brand can actually make money on their marketing content but driving their customers to seek it out (youtube films etc) is amazing. the likes of korda, nash & ESP have it spot on IMO. simple, unique styles, enough variety & not too in your face.

I've had 3-4 DNA emails each day for the last 2 weeks now!

Was 1 a day up to that which is still a lot, 3-4 just annoys me, I would unsubscribe if I could be arsed.

Most marketing types don't like it when you question the metrics, the way that reach of millions, views in the thousands, and opens all funnel down to 3 people actually clicking on an email link and no one actually buying something. But look at the reach!

That's part of the problem, companies send email because they are cheap. So it means they can flood them out, working on the old adage that if someone gets one at that moment they want something, they'll buy. But forgetting that it pisses people off, and many people don't even look at them (previews in the email program often show as opens in the metric software) these days because they get so many.

And, as you said, even the people who send them unsubscribe from other companies emails because they get so many!

But, it's cheap 🤷🏻‍♀️

That is the beauty Frothey, you can unsubscribe if you don't like it. The brands i have unsubscribed to (not fishing btw) are brands that i have bought from recently and no doubt will do again. They are good quality brands with good quality products. Me unsubscribing is not me saying i don't like this brand anymore it is just me simply saying at this time I'm not interested in what you're selling. It's not that deep.

I think the the change in GDPR rules makes it so easy now to opt in and out of this kind of marketing that perhaps it makes it easier to manage for people? Surely it is now the same as the xmas adverts for supermarkets. How many times do you see them a day? What about the same FB ads you see multiple times a day? You either scroll past or switch he channel but it is still an inconvenience or intrusion. We can't escape it nowadays unfortunately.

Either way, it has been noted

Hi Jason, regardless of whether it's possible to unsubscribe or not, do you think it's acceptable to send customers three marketing emails a day? I don't know any other company from any industry that is as relentless as DNA with email marketing.

That kind of thing just grates on a customer, of course you can unsubscribe but if you like the bait how do you then hear about new products etc? This method does the good product available a disservice.

To be fair
I unsubscribe to any marketing emails as and when I feel the need to.
Any more than 1 marketing email a week is too many IMO
If I want to check on updates to products etc
I just open socials or just check the website.

I don't use DNA baits btw so have never subscribed to their mailing list.

Normally, of course not, but the Black Friday period is a bit unique in this sense and admittedly it can be full on during this period. Like i said it has been discussed in the office and feedback has been passed on to the marketing team. It will be dialed back and more consideration to current customers given in future. Thanks for the input, it is always appreciated, good or bad.

No problem, I am always happy to try and help if i can. It matters to me that customers are happy, or indeed unhappy in this case.

Regarding the bait, not in the conventional way no. It's been many years since we brought a 'normal' bait out and the next one will be no different

That's the downside tho, if they unsubscribe it's hard to get them to subscribe again later.

Good luck with it all tho Jason, it's not easy for any business out there at the moment.

Just had an email about a video release on the 15th December, Hut Island, thank you job done. I will likely have a look.

But,
If I continue to receive daily emails about this over the next five days I will be cancelling an order you have in your diary for delivery early 2025.

Yes I know I can unsubscribe but I shouldn't have to, I'm happy to hear about offers and the occasional video etc but this last few weeks have bordered harassment.

Its very easy to set parameters for outgoing marketing, I know as I've spent the last 30 plus years in Sales and Marketing. I used the same email address that received your emails to place an order so there was no need for the many repetitive emails after the fact.

On the plus side whoever answers your phone is spot on

Probably not applicable to many now a days but if you use MS outlook on a computer you can create rules to have emails sent straight to a specific folder. Means you can stay subscribed for discount codes etc but still have them out of your main inbox.

Its what I do so that I can drop in once every few weeks and have a catch up if needed. I think with social media now a days I see most of it on there first and go and check the email promo if I'm interested enough in it.

Another one i'm going to throw under the bus for the same is Korda clothing - relentless amount of emails after buying something from them.

Still they pale into insignificance compared to some non fishing companies (Jet2, Step one)

I wonder if some of it is people signing up with more than 1 email account when they try and get offers, so subsequently get the same email to multiple accounts?

I was wondering if it was 'ghosts' in the system but the emails are different so I'm guessing it's not that.

Ghosts meaning unsubscribed but still on database after registering/unsubscribing/resubscribing.

I think it depends on how you look at it.

Some people need to constantly be checking their emails for whatever reason - business, personal etc.

if you are getting emails & notifications from spam that isn't applicable, it can be distracting & takes time to action. even if it's 15 seconds to deal with each mail (open app, open email, scan email, delete email). one a day a week, for a whole year is 1 1/2 hours of time dealing with spam emails from a single company.

as a marketer working on brand awareness, you should be always be looking at convenience vs inconvenience & spamming your consumer base smacks of either laziness or ineptitude.

Another night another email, this time it's for cheap Chinese sweatshirts with DNA on.

Jason, if I order one sweatshirt will a further 30, 40 or 50 turn up daily thereafter?

I clicked on your update subscription preferences but that only allows you to change the format of your company's harassment 🤔👌

I was going to look at one of your new videos but changed my mind just incase the ****ing thing never ends.
