What does everyone use? And thoughts on the four options.

I used to have a Spomb, in fact I've had two or three but was fed up with them breaking so went back to a conventional Spod, the only problem with a Spod is the amount that ends up coming out on a cast (does anyone have a way of loading it so this doesn't happen?).

x spod for me, found it more reliable at opening than a spomb. Also generally easier on the retrieve as skims over the surface.

You can plug the top with some groundbait or vitalin if you can still get it.I find the wolf spomb the best out of all of them

Couple of pieces of the hook foam in my case
I used to have bin bags of the stuff, at work chemicals we got were packed with them.

I prefer Dot Spod to og Spomb - easier to load one handed and cast, plus it opens more consistently. Have a first edition wolf spomb and whilst its versatile I find it can wobble in flight so on this basis rarely use it

Found the X spod to be the most reliable at opening for me, however they don't cast as far as a spomb, and I've broken a few on the cast, the link snaps off

Having tried most of them I prefer the Wolf. Never had a problem casting it at distance and reliable in opening. Retrieves well too.

I prefer the dot, the spomb is decent but a pain when it doesn't open. The wolf Flies really well and retrieves brilliantly but opens on the cast too much for my liking

That Fox Orange and Grey thing, absolute dog****, I was actually quite pleased when I lost it.

Wolf under 100 yards or dot spod if I need to get further.

Spomb for me and the best of the bunch IMO......

Dot spod all day long. Flies the best and most consistent opening
I bought 2 wolfs and gave them away after 20 mins use, awful in flight and didn't open on 25% of casts. Spomb fly well but opening a big problem.

I wish they would make a larger one. Thats the smallest i got.
Cast very good, does not wobble in flight, opens everytime and retrieves very easy.
Wolf x spod is very good for hemp and small pellets, no parts that can get clocked up.
Flies ok and opens up almost every cast, got some who did not, but that could be more a problem with casting.
Retrieves also very good.
Spomb, everyone knows them, they are great, skips funny over the surface while reeling in though.
The Fox ones are good, but retrieving sucks because it catches the water in the top of it.

Dip tip of rod in water and then reel in,it seems to help with the Fox one

For those questioning the opening of the Spomb, if you didn't know, the closing latch is reversable, one way is harder to open than the other.

Try ordering spombs off Temu they are the exact same as those in the shops but only £1.99 each

Had one, was so angry with this pos it died by my foot

Used a lot of differnt ones over the years, only one I'll use now is the Wolfe spomb.

They might look the same but the quality is dire, had a few and they didn't last 5 minutes

I find that you may have to file down some of the edges a little but after doing that I've not had a problem

I have around 1 in 15 Spombs fail to open (large version), and I usually put that down to a crappy low cast rather than the Spomb itself. Done a few 48hr sessions on a heavily stocked lake over the last few months hammering out buckets of slop over zigs, so it's had plenty of use as well.

Ordered 2 from Temu. Both broke at the hinge almost immediately, neither lasted 10 casts.

I have loads of spombs as I stocked up on them in the early days as I never wanted to be caught short losing them, so far I have never lost one. Most of them though are from Ebay, and not one of them has broke. When it comes to them not opening, I find the only time they do not is when they hit the water flat due to a bad cast or I am clipped up to hit the "swim", I find it better to add a few extra yards to the clip and just cast directly at the marker float, if I hit the clip, its because I have overcast and hopefully the spomb does not open and I draw it back to the marker float and then let it sink to the bottom giving line. Towing the line behind it falls nose first and opens on the bottom like a "dropper" if it is a hard bottom.

But, my preferred choice is the Prologic Air Bomb, the only problem with them is they either work or they do not which makes them frustrating. I can do about 20 casts with them, and then all of a sudden they open far too early every cast or not at all for no reason so it becomes embarrasing if anyone is watching. So take it off, and stick a spomb on. Next day, put the "Air Bomb" back on and it works perfectly again.....that is for so long and they stop working again. They have a mind of their own.

There must be2 versions of the knock off spombs, good and bad.
My knock off done 200+ casts last week and still going strong
