My summer holiday is later this year and as such I have fished mid July until early August for the first time in years. Am I alone in believing it's worse than bloody deep winter.
So much natural food that the few I have caught have been very lucky with singles pub chucked. All the spots, the tightest of island casts that would rattle off just stay untouched.
Is it just me or is everyone scratching? Can't even get him off the top as banner on one lake and feeding off the ducks is like trying to keep a custard cream in the tin at Christmas with my Mrs....Roll on September

Yeah worst 2 months of the year for me too, on the local the weed is mental as usual.
Tried a few floater trips, left home in balmy stillness to arrive at a lake only fit for white water rafting with a squadron of white rats on standby, that's after negotiating the pothole strewn tracks they call roads.
Chuck in a really bad year for pollen & i'm definitely waiting for autumn!

Summer is the worst time of the year for fishing for me- its either too hot, fish spawny then not, rivers on their ar*se, venues busy, Great British Summer weather, Weed and more weed, Free swimming d*ckheads, bank & summer holidays...
Only thing good is daylight lengths..now drawing in! Give me winter lol

Try and pint of maggots and some pellet for a change and see what's feeding and still have one out for just carp!

Always a chance somewhere. Lovely time of the year to be put on the bank. The long days means you can always find a few hours in any day to get out and get your fix. As long as you can keep yourself sheltered and well hydrated you should be fine. Who don't like sitting by the waters edge on a barmy summers evening. Sipping on a few cold ones. BBQ on the go. Chatting **** with a mate or two while watching the sun go down. To be honest the fishing comes second in times like these anyway. Plenty of time to catch fish when your confined to your bivvy anyway.

Treat it less like a mission to catch and more like a mission to chill out in nature. That works for me but then I do have a good sized lake with few anglers so I'll just set up for a few days and nights, sleep under the stars and any captures are just a bonus. I love it.

Unless on the river, the last 10 or do summers have been ****. Always do well up to when the tadpoles arrive, then struggle till September time year after year. The presence of ****s and day trippers doesn't help, but summer carping is a real struggle for me until the longer nights and cooler mornings arrive

The water I fish fishes best in the hot weather, numbers wise, I think probably because there's nearly always a decent breeze on it. On arrival around 8am fish already up on top, throw some floaters out, usually good sport until the sun gets too high and then it's on the bottom for the late morning to mid/late avo then they usually start to feed off the top again with gusto, probably a light trigger for the fish.
I've found abroad that unless there's a good wind on the water on hot summer days it's forget it until night and even then if it stays hot/still overnight it can be a real struggle.
My chief dislike of the hottest months, getting hot and sweaty before even setting up, and if overnighting then sleeping like that. Takes me a few days to get used to that.

For me on club lake i joined this year, Summer has been unpredictable, some days the fish do not seem on the feed at all and then other days you can have a red letter day and catch like 7 on an over nighter.

The consensus was that all the small fish spawned and the bigger ones hadn't. No one could catch anything about 20lb for about 4 to 6 weeks.

Last 2months on my lake have been pants . . .some odd big-uns coming out but sporadic and at weird times . . .floods earlier in the season have made this one 'out of kilter' IMO

Totally agree ref the fishing as it seems very spotty on the lakes I fish this time of year but at the same time I love the evenings on the bank once the sun has gone down and your hopeful for a take......

My lad & I have been doing ok, coloured water has meant the Bream are active in the edge which is a pain but if our location is good the Carp have pushed them away a bit.
None of the bigger fish have been out to us though and it's a little bit sketchy as to if they've been caught.
As said elsewhere it's just a lovely time to be out wandering about.

Ive done 1 night since may. That was meant to be 3 but when the fish were all up in the weed at 4.30am, i was gone by 6.......

I managed to miss the spring completely and only got going at the end of June and days only. Two 20's and a 30 from the same spot in a week and I thought I was on for the season from heaven and now its completely dead! I can see them in the weed, I'm pre-baiting the same mix and fishing the same way but getting nothing. Happy though with the peace and quiet and watching the kingfishers and maybe I'll get another before year end. Summer sun can be a pain but I'll take that over pissing down rain
Done 3 nights last week and blanked,on my local water as well and the same time last year had 5 runs but there was hardly any weed and from what I heard there were loads of people fishing it due to warm weather so quite possibly too much bait gone in,there was a guy at top end of the lake looks like he'd been there almost 2 weeks as my brother saw him there a week before and the week I fished and he was there as I went home.

I prefer September & October I had the biggest out of my lake in October last year plus a smaller one but I did have a 18.5,23,24 last August plus lost one and a tench but that as fairly good for a lake like I fish
