Anyone know when Aldi are doing there fishing bits in the middle isle. They normally do some good bits. Luggage clothing etc. Or has that boat sailed.

Google, Aldi special buys it will give you a few weeks in advance what's coming up ,last fishing tackle I saw was a few months ago now but you can find useful stuff in camping accessories too

Aldi & Lidl normally do them close together my wife tells me, Lidl started with some bits last week so Aldi might be close 
Noticed for several months now that the special buys have been nothing like in the past.

Had a look at the Lidl fishing special buys. It looked tat to be honest. Aldis stuff always seems to be a bit better.. The brand name escapes me..
EDIT.... Its Crane the brand. There luggage and clothing is quality for the money.

Agree...except the lures, spinners etc...i got two boxes of X4 lures for £6. can't complain at that

The Crane fishing jacket and salopettes are brilliant for the money.

Careful with the lures, I picked some up years ago to have a look at. Split rings with awful, one jointed lure could be pulled apart - all went in the bin as would've been a hazard to any pike hooked.

many moons ago I purchased a small Crane luggage bag which I think was about £10 / £15 max it was really good so good I purchased a couple. I was then browsing the Chub product guide and guess what ? I came across the identical bag for 5 times the price with no difference apart from the Crane logo being replaced with a Chub logo

I ended up with about 6 of them and used them for all sorts, lure fishing, tackle bag, cooking and stove bag, tool bag for the car and a camera bag etc and even gave one to our lass to use as a makeup bag.
When I bought my first one, I also saw that not only did Chub do them but so did JRC, and other companies too, they all had them priced at around £35 and the only difference was the Logo sown on the front as you say.
I think it was last year they sold a small bergan for fishing about 35 litres, its ideal for day sessions or putting your clothes and go away gear for a weekend away so I snapped one up, at the price you could not go wrong, about £14 I think, but I have not used it yet. It just sits there gathering dust.

We really do get our pants pulled down at times with fishing tackle. Some one sets a bench mark price wise. Then every other company that does the same product feels like they have to come in around the same price. No doubt there's a business motive behind the pricing policy.. 
But I can't fathom it.
Sports direct for example.. pair of walking shoes £39.99 RRP £59.99... they were never a £60 pair of shoes in the first place. Makes you feel like your getting a bargain. But you soon cotton on...

I think the business motive behind the pricing policy is how much do they (the tackle companies) think they can price something high and get away with it.
Keeping prices high can lead to consumers thinking they are buying high end kit, sometimes that's true but in many cases they're just buying average stuff that's been packaged and marketed to appear something special.

People are wary of cheap though. How many times have you looked on ebay for a generic spare part for something, only to find hundreds of sellers, often using the same picture, all at varying prices. I'll admit to many times, even knowing its probably the same product, I'll buy the one that's somewhere near the middle of the price range.
Pay more money. You feel like you're getting a superior product.

Just picked up today a camping set of 3 pans in drawstring bag that look remarkably like fox pans from aldi for 7.99, might be pony but worth a crack for that money

Yes I looked at them before buying they actually look decent quality...tbf though mate they'll probably end up in the tree anyway 😂
I'm a big believer in buy cheap buy twice but on most stuff nowadays it all comes from chine/Vietnam anyway so you're not buying more quality for more price just for the badge. However sports direct walking boots are terrible. I only buy Scarpa boots now, all the rest seems to be made really badly.

Oddly enough, I was in Aldi's today for a look and I never saw anything related to fishing and it should have been out on display today.
Last year I bought a pair of the Fishing Joggers and a Thermal Fishing Hoody, and they are good value and warm, spent more time "Loafing" round the house in them this Winter though to keep warm as I have plenty of other warm clothes for the bank. I'm a 44" chest and 40" waist and the sizes I got are XL for the Hoody which fits perfect with room underneath for more layers and an XL for the Joggers. The XXL joggers were huge on me and had to exchange them, if I recall, the XXL was marked up for a 40" waist. Only issue I find with the Hoody is, the front pocket is only good for keeping your hands warm, put anything in it like your mobile phone or glasses etc, they can easily fall out as the pocket has no depth to it. Other than that, its worth having as you can use the pockets in the joggers for phones etc as they are deep and zipped.
About 4 year ago I bought both the Fishing Backpack and a Holdall, but once again, never used them on the bank as I have plenty of other bags to use, it was just the price is right for spares but I use them for going away on a weekend. Only issue I found with the Holdall is it is not a double zip for the side pouches so it is a single zip that goes round the pouch so if you put lots of small items etc in them, they can fall out soon as you unzip the pouch as the zip starts from the bottom and its just as problematic putting small stuff in them as once again, one side of the pouch has to remain unzipped to the bottom. And if you accidently forget to zip the pouches up right to the bottom, you could easily lose stuff so not ideal for the likes of car keys and wallets etc. Hopefully, they might have modified the holdhall to a double zip for the side pouches.

The hoodies are ( or were) really good value for money. Thick and warm, wrist over features and good hoods. The inner neck collar you either liked or cut away.

But the bags on sale now are totally different and are far larger and like a rucksack but they are still good to have.

Just been into Aldi's, the fishing gear must have been in yesterday, just as I was about to try another Aldi, I discovered it all no where near where I would have expected it to be, it was tucked away in a very small display amongst the Mexican food etc.
Very little left except, bags, gloves, hats and all the Sherpa shirts which actually looked quite good but I did not buy one.
As for joggers, hoodies, soft shell jackets etc barely any left and no cargo trousers.
So be quick.

At the quality and price it don't stay on the shelf for to long. As mentioned I use one of the Crane small cool bag as a brew bag. And in the summer it's just the right size to take 8 tins of beer and a couple of ice packs. Wish I'd bought a few more.

The "cargo trousers" where in store yesterday so I bought a couple of pairs of them
Doubt I would wear them fishing though, they seem a bit thin and doubt they would last long if you go creeping about amongst bushes and briars. They are that thin, they have no warmth to them so probably useless for a cold Spring and a cold Autumn etc and definitely out for Winter use. But, maybe ideal for just sitting around in on a hot Summers day on the bank and they probably dry very fast too if you fall in or wade out to net a fish or even spill your beer over them.
Because they are only "Light" they fold up very small so maybe ideal to use as spare clothing in your bag or for sleeping in on a Summer night with just a blanket.
But, I bought them mainly for day to day wearing at home and they are very comfortable and that light, you don't notice your wearing them.
In fact, regarding drying time, just rememberd that I washed a pair to get the creases out, hung them outside just over half an hour ago, just checked them and they are bone dry, everything else is still wet including my jeans etc and its cold, no sun and a light breeze. But, they had been spun, so if you fall in, they would be a bit wetter and take a bit longer to dry.

Soft Shell jackets are on sale, I bought 2 last year, I was that impressed with them I wore them right through Winter for just day to day use clothing at home and going down town shopping etc

Got some salopettes years ago from Aldi, still going strong, albeit the elastic shoulder straps are a bit knackered and it's a bit tight nowadays. May have to pickup a larger pair if available

Slough Aldi had a bunch of bits in this weekend. Soft shell jackets, joggers, neoprene wellies which I've had before and were great. Also really nice looking small rucksacks, looked very well made and only £15. Regret not buying one as I typed that!

Those wellies are great for the money, I'm on my second pair, first pair lasted a couple of seasons and there still fine.Only about 25 quid.

Got some joggers and wellies today, only went in for a sandwich....the wellies tbf feel like we'll made but I had to size down they come up big like muck boots.
I treated myself to one of the hooded Sherpa shirts & it's keeping me toasty on this cold spring morning. Good value.

Got a £14.99 rucksack perfect size for day fishing with my Tench fishing kit. Lots of pockets and elastic straps on top, unbelievable value for money. Put a Drennan badge on it and it would be £45.00!
