I've currently got a solar sp c tech and finding it uncomfortable when I sleep on my side so can anyone recommend something more suitable

Might be worth trying a sim with it as they are a great bed and expensive, I'm a side sleeper also and use an avid benchmark which I find good.

I'm also a side sleeper, and added a sim to my set up. It really makes the difference you need.

Yeah I agree, I was going to sell my bedchair. I so read tried a sim and it transformed it. Adds a lot less weight than getting a bedchair that would be comfortable enough without having one. I like the look of the new solar bedchair though 😍 I may be tempted

Fox Flatliter 6 legs (CBC094) I've had 12 bedcharis (love the 30days free return (Belgium), , but the Flatliter one is the best mattress I've ever had, heavy side sleeper with Osteoarthritis plus had 2 shoulder operations last year, a few days after the operation I slept on the operated shoulder side
Not a light bed but it is so comfortable
solar C-tech are top beds, but the mattress was a pain for me, even Memory mattresses are a hell for me to lie on.

Bit of advice before pissing a lot more money up the wall buying another bedchair that still might not be comfortable . Get yourself on Amazon search for unigear ultralite inflatable sleeping mattress £19.99 posted it will increase the comfort of your bedchair a lot . I use 2 of the Inflatable mattress on my fox mk2 flatliner bedchair and never get back ache ever . I wasted so much money over the years buying and selling different bedchairs trying to find a comfortable bedchair without success so tried the inflatable mattress underneath the sleeping bag and it sorted the problem.

Struggled with this myself - the C-Tech seems narrow which compounds the problem. I have a Fox R-Series system now - it's got more usable width but the clincher for me is adding a customised bit of memory foam beneath the sleeping bag. It's cut to fit inside the frame for a perfect fit, which is a struggle to achieve with a SIM on any bed IMO.

I'm a bit surprised reading some folk find the Ctech uncomfortable, most of the reviews have been very favourable. As carpy09 says well worth trying a sim 1st. I bought a Helium 3.8 recommended by Gerry years ago for my Trakker Levelite ELS, It made a huge difference, not only to comfort but to usable width. As a side sleeper I found that without the sim my kness would be pressured on the bars even though they had a foam skirt on them, there was about 4.5cm difference in the height of the mattress when lay on, and the bar area. The 3.8 sim took out most of this height difference meaning I couldn't feel the bars and that effectively gave me 10cm extra both sides for my kness, naturally you couldn't put your body on the bars.
I changed my 3.8 to a 7.5cm mattress last year as I found the 3.8 had to be inflated quite hard to be of any use and sometimes it would hurt my shoulder. I found that by gradually letting air out of the 7.5 sim to a point it didn't hurt my shoulder also meant the 7.5 doesn't need to be inflated as much which again makes it more comfortable. I've probably slept on my bed over 100 nigth so far (not fishing). I didn't scrimp on the 5 I bought a outdoor revolution, in particular for the valve as I don't like the newer type vales (too big and reports indicate they don't last long).
And then...the wife made me mull the whole lot over again with her purchase of the Vango Shangri La 15, I kid you not, it's the closest thing I've ever slept on to a real bed camping wise in 30 years. I even went looking for a standard army type camp bed it might fit on.
One thing not mentioned often is that using a SIM the sleeping bag can become damp underneath as the sims don't breath, I tend to turn the bag over daily. I can imagine a long winter stay on the bank and it might become a problem, it can even without a sim ime.

I'm a side sleeper and seem only able to get on with beds elasticated around the frame. Any lumbar support beds or those with the middle section attached to the frame give me hip ache after 4 to 5 hours
If you can find one, the carp spirit 6 or leg is a good recommendation. I bought one for the Mrs but use it myself on short sessions. Really comfy bed and a good price in comparison to other companies.
People say try out in the tackle shop first - not sure if that helps much as I don't think you can really understand how you will cope without sleeping on it.

I can't stay on any SIM for 15 minutes, I've had them from €20 to €230, they all didn't feel good to me
Trakker oval levelite v2 tail was also a good bed for me but the weight was meh (19kg...)
Fox Duralite was my next one also very good for me as a side sleeper, but with my new dog i wanted a bigger bed and ended up with the Flatliter, all 3 have the high density foam mattress and I see no need for a SIM at all.

I'm a side sleeper, I got a c tech and it was the most uncomfortable bed I've had for a long time. Hip and shoulders were very sore. Changed it to a benchmark (lite) and added a SIM. The memory foam is a big deal if you side sleep IMO, it takes out that hard point of contact. Add in a small quality SIM and I think its the best combo I have used. The lite works for me as I'm quite a small bloke. I havent looked at any other mem foam beds but that would be my first requirement from now on.

Another shout for the benchmark lite, although I actually find it more comfortable without a sim. Also I found using a sim decreased the amount of space inside the sleeping bag for some reason? The bed itself has a little bit of sag in it, which I prefer being a side sleeper and I think the sim takes up the sag and makes the bag tighter on top of you, giving you less room to roll over etc.

Yep I done the same, from a solar to a benchmark lite, I do use a sim and it works well for me. In fact just used it for a week in France with no issues.

Standard Avid leveltech with a Vango trek pro SIM trapped underneath the foam of the mattress. Three four years been the best I've had.

I had the same problem when I bought it. I saw that Oldgeezer had recommended to someone else with the very same problem to use a SIM. That completely fixed it for me. But now I have the new Solar men foam bedchair and it's a dream to sleep on my side without a SIM. Give it a shot first before getting a new bedchair.

Funny you should mention the Carp Spirit one - I tried one in Outlaw Pro and it seemed miles better than the usual suspects on display- and it was £99.
