Yep just got the message, Gold card up to £2,250 from £1,500. I guess my name will come up quicker now but not sure i will be joining.

It's a lot of fishing and some serious stock, but a hike like that when the owner has deep, deep pockets won't sit well. People are moaning, but they will still cough up. The waiting list is anywhere between 2 and 5 years depending on who you ask, they will get away with it.

Coarse angling no longer the working man's sport. I no times have changed and fisheries are putting a lot more money in there waters with stock and making them a more comfortable place to fish.. but a 66% price hike. How can they justify that.

Imagine being a south lake member who has seen a 100% price increase 😡

Thinking about it... maybe there's an ulterior motive in the huge price hike. Wasn't there talk at one time that the owners had applied for planning permission to build holiday type lodges around Wraysbury. Or was I imagining it?

Lots of cheap angling if you don't just fish for big carp. Loads of rivers etc on cheap club tickets

Depends how you do it.

But it's certainly true that carp fishing is often a more expensive sporting hobby than ‘posh' ones like fly fishing, sailing, skiing, etc. But then so also is a lot of other coarse fishing - you see match anglers with £4k pole rods sitting on £2k seats.

To have an annual rod on a stretch of the Test would cost you less.

The thing is they will still sell all the tickets at the new price so it's makes perfect business sense.

Not great for the angler though.

Not that it makes a difference but it's a 50% rise.

Does anyone think it will make a difference to the amount of people in the venues or still fully sell out?

500 to 1000 is a 100% rise for the south. For the gold, yes, it's a 50% increase. % is calculated by increase/initial price.
Prices are nuts on some of these places, especially considering the current climate.

Mind you, with day tickets being £25+ it doesn't take long to add up, and if you can guarantee you'll get a swim and (possibly) less shenanigans......

Try £40 a day at some places like Bluebells etc. Pay heavily to feed someones pets lol

I will stick to me 75 quid club ticket that gives me more than one water, fish to mid 30's and is not bivvy city.

Lots of syndicates are over 1k a year now. They have steadily increased over the last 5-10 years. The sad thing is that as long as people keep paying the increased prices, which they do, they will continue to go up

A few years ago Great Windsor park opened up a syndicate at 1500 quid from memory.

They only got 12 members at that price then 8 cancelled once they got the rule book through.

I just had the text today. 1200 for the silver ticket, I'm really not sure I will be able to merit 1200 for a lake I'll probably fish a few times a year. Was 750 when I went on the list.

Mate of mine on Church atm & having a great season . He got the message the other day and almost had a heart attack. He's not a happy bunny as he had seen himself fishing Church for a few more years before going onto K1 etc. I had been thinking about Cray in a couple of years time.. not now. IIRC RK hiked the prices like this @ 3 years ago.

not quite correct - it was £1000 first off; 18 signed up but no more than that took up a place until the price was reduced to £600pa back in 2019.
Nobody cancelled once they got the Rulebook - its always provided to prospective members before membership fees are paid - that way you know what the rules are before you part with your cash. A year's ticket is currently £700pa, and membership is full.

I'm on my second year (gold ticket) to be honest, it is great down there - made some good friends and caught some good fish including my first UK fifty,

Word on the street a couple of months ago, was that it was going from £1500 > £1850, and considering I've just moved further up north, I was in two minds about renewing at £1850...

Now it's £2250 for a gold... in the middle of trying to buy a house and sort stuff out, £2250 is just too much for me to justify now.

A lot of the people I know on the ticket say they're not renewing, but I imagine RK have enough on the waiting list, that they'll make the numbers up.

It's still a lot of water and fish for £2250, especially K1 - K1 is an amazing water, but for me right now - it's just too much...

Any venue with big waiting lists can push big price rises knowing many will not renew and the waiting list turns over giving more people the opportunity to fish. Ok it means the angler has to pay if they really want to fish it but at least they get the chance rather than sitting on a waiting list for dead man's shoes on a venue that has had the same people sitting on the ticket for years that rarely fish it. A friend of mine is on a fly sindy with eight members that cost him 12k joining fee and they all pay for the up keep and stocking every year .

i put my name on the waiting list for Wraysbury in march 2021 when it was for both north and south.. a month after i get a text saying that with the new season they were splitting the ticket so that its north or south, north would still be £1k and south £500.. i stuck with north as a mate of mine got his ticket so it would have been nice to fish with him on there for a season or two.. When i put my name down i was told it would be an 18-24 month wait, so by april time this year i was expecting a phone call of some sort.. instead i get a text thanking me for joining an RK leisure waiting list and the following prices going forward. i phone the office as it read as if id only just joined the waiting list... the lady confirmed that i am on the list and have been since march 21, but unfortunately i still have at least a 2 year wait!! not very happy with this i asked why, she couldnt really give me an answer only that not many people have given up their ticket in the last two years.. i took it on the chin and thought oh well it is what it is but by the time i get a chance at a membership it will likely be more money

maybe though as others have said with the increase there will be a bigger rotation of memberships and therefore the waiting lists will in time shrink due to that..

Depends how often you fish tbh.

A syndicate I was on went from £420 to £750 a couple of years ago. I renewed for the first year but given the time I have available I just couldn't justify renewing it again so dropped it last year.

I only really get a chance to go between April and October and so far this year I've only managed 7 nights in total. The most I've ever done is probably 25 in a year.

For people who do a couple of nights a week every week of the year then some of these more expensive syndicates are value for money but I suspect for the vast majority of anglers (especially those with other interests) they're not.
