Can anyone recommend a decent I phone app to take photos on command? Im fed up with using the small remotes that have to be operated by your foot etc. Ideally I want to be able to give a command to the phone when photographing fish.

iPhone apps to downloaded the Lens buddy app has custom timer , has delays inbetween shots and will take as many shots as you want and can shot in portrait mode all you need to do set it all up hit the shot button go back puck the fish up and away you go or their is the photo timer + app same again custom timer set delay inbetween shots and takes multiple shots only thing you can't do is shot in portrait mode with this app

Don't know about I phones, but it only works with older versions of Android. It stopped working on mine after an system update.

You don't need an app. I've tried them and they're unreliable. Using voice command on the iPhone via the instructions below is by far the most effective method that I've found. It has never not worked.

When you're ready to take the shot / before attaching phone to tripod and positioning correctly:

1) Go To Settings --> Accessibility --> Voice Control

2) Switch it on

3) Turn camera on

4) Use the default voice command for the shutter button - which I think is "Turn Volume Down" - it will take a shot every time you say it. If you have the volume up / flash on then you'll get confirmation of a shot.

Whistle Camera works fine with the new iPhones, tested it with the 14 pro the other night. I had a version of the app years ago that was a bit hit and miss, but the current version has worked perfectly every time for me. You get very decent shots with the new generation of phones. Don't bother with the SLR or intervalometer anymore. Less to carry, better night shots and no problems with lenses streaming up.

I've just tried voice control it works really well.
Is it possible on the I phone to leave voice control turned on in settings but have it assigned just for the camera?
Tech isn't my thing.

I have not worked that out yet - not sure if it's possible or not. I just switch off voice control once the fish has been released, etc.

I've recently started using Sensory VoiceSelfie app and it's great. Like you I was struggling with remotes and my camera so downloaded the free app and gave it a go and just use my phone. So far nothing to dislike avoid it, it just works and I have 2 free hands to control the fish (which was very helpful last night when photographing a nice mid 30

Isnt that just for android phones?

I've just asked Siri to open the whistle app which I'd did first time and yesthen whistle to take a photo 👍 if that's any help

Use the video settings do a video and cut a photo from there easy.

Gave up with the Whistle App as half the time I couldn't get a whistle out. Not helped if you're out of puff a bit from dealing with a fish or lifting a proper kipper. Now use Cam Interval instead. Set the phone up with screen facing you and then app on, retrieve the fish to the mat, press the start button and it will just keep firing shots till you stop it again. I have mine set at 3 seconds between shots ( adjustable ). No panic, gives you time to calm the fish if it's not playing ball. Nice and calm, turn the fish round, slosh of water, photograph the other side. Press stop. Return the fish, kettle on and sit down with a brew to go through the pics, select the best ones as keepers and delete the rubbish ones. Happy days.

Triple click the side button on my I phone to turn voice command on/off
Say Turn volume down to take pic.
Been working spot on for me.

I like things simple as possible while I'm fishing.

On iPhone do as says but in voice settings overlay numbers
Once done open Siri - activate voice control you then select number by camera, and zoom shoot and all functions available by just saying numbers.

If I can do it you'd need to be a real numpty to fail.

You don't need an app.

Say ‘hey siri, turn on voice control'

‘Open camera'

‘Show names'

That will open the camera and label every function, to take a picture you just say ‘tap take picture' (which is what the shutter button is labelled as).


To change the mode from photo to portrait or video etc, it's just ‘swipe right camera mode' or ‘swipe left camera mode'

OpenCamera app - set to take one shot/sec. Out of 100 shots you just select one. I usually do it on the front camera so that I can see my positioning of the fish. Should work with any cheap phone.

Just put camera ov video with camera facing you. Then playback video and pick your photos using edit. So easy

Sorry just seen this

To set this up, open Settings > Accessibility > Voice Control > Overlay, then chose whether to display item numbers, item names, or a numbered grid.

Once set - every time after say Siri turn on voice control - open camera and jobs a good un.

With iPhone create a customised command in voice control.
I turn on the camera set to portrait then just say “snap” and it takes a picture
Or if I say “snap it” it will take 3 pictures.
You can use what ever word you like.
And you can quickly turn voice control on and off using Siri
