Hi everyone I'm after a bit of advice, recently I've been suffering with back issues that are worse after fishing, I've put this down to my chair which whilst comfortable is low and not easy to get out of, I'm after recommendations for chairs that are regular chair height and not low.

Have a look at Helinox Chair one xl ...not the standard ..
They are very comfy and very light ,in fact you can literally wear one ,to carry it..
Now before someone is saying they are not adjustable, which is correct ...99.9 swims today are normally flat ...I use mine for all aspects of my fishing not just carping

I suffer with lower back issues also.
I use the nash moon chair and it helped a ton. Bear in mind that the chair is still huge when packed away. I'm reluctant to take it on 24 hour sessions because of this.

Moon chairs are very comfy bit very low and hard to get out of if you struggle like the original post says.

I wouldn't say it was low personally. Depends how tall you are I guess.

A chair with arms really helps with getting up too, that's my next purchase.... I'm getting old!

i have suffered with a bad back for a long time,
and I've had three minor opps, two epidurals, and then a lumber punch
and I've used a Nash Indulgence Big Daddy Recline Chair for a good few years
and got to be honest, it's been spot on,
i do use my lumber seat cushion on the chair that i have in my van, and that does help me,
plus a hot water bottle which i keep in my barrow that i use just in the odd moment my back plays up a bit on the lake,
i've tried a few, but found the nash chair the best,
but i have heard theres a few good ones that have come out over the last couple of years,
but i just stay with what i know, and am happy with

Im 6'4. Its the way you sit inside them that makes them hard to get out of. I dont have any problems but i would imagine there a bit of a nightmare if you have a bad back.

Solar SP CTech Recliner chair - I've got the low version which IMO is not particularly low even with the feet un-extended (and I'm 6'1") - the lumbar cushion is a godsend and the chair on the whole very easy to get out of . . .heavyish to lug compared with others but no probs on a barrow

I have a Sonik SK-tec recliner, which I got because of back and hip problems.
It is fine on level ground, but the extending legs do tend to slide back in with my 80kilos on them.
As said, fine for flat and level, any slopes, forget it.

I got shown a really good hack for Heliox recently ..using those golf practice balls ,you can cut the plastic easily to fit on the legs ,so no sinking ,...(nb,the xl diameter legs are bigger than the standard diameter)

if you have a bad back avoid it !
I have owned and used most chairs wychwood ,nash,trakker JRC etc etc
and in my opinion the Solar Tackle SP C-Tech Recliner Chair the high version is the best chair on the market for anyone with a bad back
the higher the BETTER for anyone with a bad back as its easier to get in and out of

Have to agree with ‘Belch' . I'm now sitting on my solar sp-c tech recliner which is very comfy . Mine is the low version and I wouldn't say it was low at all . If you need a little extra height as mentioned there is a higher version . What I find really helps is having arms on the chair. 👍

I've seen the Solar SP-tech chair listed as CH03 and CH04. Is one the low and one the high?

Sometimes it pays to think out of the box a bit. Dedicated carp products are not always the best and there are better (and cheaper) alternatives out there.
I too have a bad back. After having a few chairs - Fox, JRC, plus using a supplied Solar chair at a French venue for a week, non of them were really comfy, causing back ache. I also realised that I never really used the recliner function, leaving it set on the best setting I could get.
I eventually tried a Korum lite weight chair. This is the discontinued one which features a nylon see through mesh fabric, has the upright 4 adjustable legs and that's it. No frills, the more upright position gives good back support.
In addition it is lightweight and doubles up as a chair for roving on the river for other species.
It can be left outside in the rain and just shake the rain off and a quick wipe and it's useable again. It came with an attachable side table which is handy for many things plus a shoulder strap if required. You can also extend the front legs to your bedchair height and remove the rear legs and you have a bedchair seat for inside your bivvy. There are also various attachments you can fit as required to attach all manner of things.
It is comfy enough as it is but I do have a lightweight cushion which I used to use on my padded chairs that can be used for longer week sessions and weighs virtually nothing and sits inside during transit but isn't really needed TBH, just a case of using it as I have it.
Although discontinued there are quite a few still around second hand on eBay, FB, Gumtree etc as they are simple and long lasting. Paid £40 for mine including side table.

I have a Solar SP-C tech high version I'd sell for £90 if you're anywhere near Sheffield. It's a great chair but I want the low version to go under a brolly better.

Yes can imagine the high is a much better option if you have back problems. I was on my first french trip in april and every single person who sat in my solar sp chair said they were buying one 😀

Is it a struggle under a brolly then? The Solar high chair was on my list to get soon, but I use a Solar undercover brolly....

I found the high version too high for a Tempest 100 - but that's only 125cm tall. The Undercover is 150cm, so I would have thought that would be fine.

The low is not as low as you think - I use mine under a Fox Specialist 45 and even with the brollies reduced boss / arms you cannot sit back directly central at 6'+ without bashing your noggin on the mech. . .Nash Indulgence Sub Lo may work better for you . . ?

Size: 104cm x 52cm (seat height 48cm)
and the Low version is
Size: 89cm x 54cm (seat height 36cm)

I've got the same brolly. The high chair is a bit too high in it, especially when reclined and you get up suddenly for a bite etc, so I'd prefer the low version. It might be fine if you sit near the front, but I need to get out of bad weather as it's exposed where I mainly fish on the Trent.

What I like about the low is that it isn't as 'low' as other 'low' chairs and provides a comfy support without encouraging you to slump down. I use a Trakker Transformer for session fishing and the back is about the same size but the chair itself is lower and generally less 'upright' - the solar is 100% more comfortable . . . and with legs extended the seat height can be improved further
