I once witnessed a guy playing a large carp on light tackle, it took line and snagged him around 30 yards away in a bush. Without even trying to free the fish, he got out some scissors, and cut the line just after the tip ring.

Was it in a match? I've heard of match anglers allegedly pulling for break by pointing there rods at fish when there hooked a bigger than normal carp. The reasoning behind it being in the time it would take to play the fish in they could accumulate a fare bigger weight in smaller fish. Shocking really.. but money talks..
But why the need to cut the line at the rod tip? The mind boggles.

The worse angling I saw was a bailiff of a lake fishing in the middle of a lily pad bed. His argument was it was the only spot he could catch from and he said he would land 1 in 4 fish so it wasn't too bad. Obviously it was against the rules but he couldn't see the issue with it as he was the bailiff so no one raised the issue with him.

Back in the 90's on DDAPS there was a bad drought. The lake should've been closed.
The water was so low that the top of bars were showing and one person fished beyond one particular bar and then tried to drag a fish over it.

That is bad....
Was on my old club/day tkt lake ,maybe 20 years ago..Got there early,mist rising off the lakes surface,before a hot day ,the silver fish on the surface and carp evident in margins to left n right of me..Quietly set up,one rod ,left ,other rod right..Nice and quiet ..perfect..!
Then ...
Superboy ,turned up 60 yards on other side of lake ,got out his powerful rods and throwing stick 3oz leads ,etc, cast his rigs into MY..margin..
Went around ,explaining error of his ways ,.got a load of verbal bs,for my troubles ,then ....he dropped the mega bomb !....I'm on leave from Police training college, so I can do what I like ...
I educated him by phoning the owner ,who I went to school with. ,so there you have the level of mentality of young police recruits..

One summer, North arm of cassien.
I arrived Saturday morning and settled on a swim, in front of me there were some local carp angler.
Monday morning, in the early hours I saw them moving from one swim to another then they disappeared in one corner of the lake where there is a lane that go down to the bank.
I thought, ok someone will go to some market to get some food or something.
Hours passed and I forgot about them. If wasn't for the wind that picked up and one dinghy drifted on the surface from their swim toward me.
At one point the dinghy got stucked in the middle (more close to where I was that the middle, indeed) and after a lot of time without anyone of them moved to bring back the boat I decided to tow the dinghy to them.
With my boat I arrived to the dinghy, tied it and tried to tow it toward them. It wasn't easy as the wind was blowing strong against and the waves were quite high, but at one point I realize that for how strong I rowing I don't moved a bit.
My thought was that there were something snagged to the bottom (maybe the anchor?) and got close their boat to investigate.
It wasn't the ancor, it was a lot of braid tangled to the propeller.
It's seemed to me very strange that they wasn't aware of what was appening: you are sleeping and don't see the boat that move away, OK! (it isn't at all OK) but if the boat move your line you can't hear the alarm.
So, untied their boat I'd rowed toward them to told them about their boat.
But when I got close I realized that there weren't any one attended the rods.
Apparently early in the morning they left the lake with their rods fishing with the intent to come back in the evening (maybe they had gone at work? 
) and the boat passed through the line and collected a few.
Gutted from that behavior I moved to another swim.

You can have massive winds fishing on the large ressies in France, but never heard of anyone smoking unhooking mats so thin with some Old Holborn within them.

Drunk and fishing into snags on a local park lake, then wanted a fight when I pointed out the error of his ways.
Pulled up in the brasenose 1 car park when me and a mate were due to start a session on Hardwick. Before we had a chance to offer help we witnessed a lad who had a hooked a carp from Brasenose dragging it up the gravel bank as his mate had gone to the shop and their landing net was in the car.
Three European anglers on the island at Rainbow in the height of summer in over 35 degree heat in the middle of the day hoisting a carp about on the bank pulling every Jimi Hendrix Fender Stratocaster stock image pose for 20 minutes+ getting their trophy shots and not once dousing it in water, all three of them were all having a bash at their trophy pics before they then got in the lake with it pulling every Steve Vai flying V pose as they'd exhausted Jimi's catalog for probably another 10 minutes, I shouted across from Peg 1 more than a few times to get it back in the water and let it go the fish was over 86lb and one of the known mirrors. 
I fell out later that evening with one of them 'the non fishing member of the group' came into my swim that night pissed up trying to share a drink from a bottle of home brewed spirit he had poured to tell me how great they all were and superior anglers to everyone on the lake as they had landed the biggest know mirror at the time, he was politely asked to F--K off out of my swim and take his pig swill with him before he got ironed out.
I fell out later that evening with one of them 'the non fishing member of the group' came into my swim that night pissed up trying to share a drink from a bottle of home brewed spirit he had poured to tell me how great they all were and superior anglers to everyone on the lake as they had landed the biggest know mirror at the time, he was politely asked to F--K off out of my swim and take his pig swill with him before he got ironed out.

I would always put my waders on these days. Don't need to unnecessarily get my trouser and shirt wet and slimy. So you would see me out my vass waders on aswell but not for the photo of waders

I agree, especially at night. No way I'm climbing in to my sleeping bag with fish slime and wet legs! Easier to put waders on than it is to change clothes.
